Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Samick.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into dog photography really grew out of two things I love: photography and dogs. I have always been drawn to photography and the ability to capture a moment that can never be recreated exactly the same way again. But over time, I realized that photographing dogs gave me something even more meaningful—the opportunity to capture their personalities, their quirks, and the incredible connection they share with the people who love them.
Dogs are such an important part of our lives, but unfortunately, we never get enough time with them. I know firsthand how meaningful photographs become when all you want is to hold onto those memories. That realization really shaped the direction of my business and inspired me to focus exclusively on dogs and puppies.
What started as a love of photography gradually became Too The Dogs Photography. Along the way, I continued learning, experimenting, and discovering my own style. I love creating images that are not only beautiful but also tell a story. Sometimes that means capturing a dog running on the beach, chasing bubbles, or showing off their silly personality. Other times, it is a quiet moment between a dog and their person that says everything without needing words.
As my business evolved, I also began to realize that I was especially drawn to photographing the connection between dogs and their moms. I am a Dog Mom myself, so I understand that relationship on a very personal level. Our dogs are not “just pets.” They are family, our best friends, our companions, and such a huge part of our everyday lives.
That is what led me to evolve into specializing in Dog Moms and the unique bond they share with their dogs. There is something incredibly special about being able to capture the love, connection, and little moments between a Dog Mom and her dog—moments that can be easy to take for granted while we’re living them but become priceless memories over time.
Today, I feel grateful that I get to do something I truly love. Every dog and every Dog Mom has their own story, and every session is an opportunity to create something personal and meaningful for them. Too The Dogs Photography has grown from a passion for photography into a business centered around celebrating not only the personality and joy of dogs, but also the beautiful relationships they share with the people who love them most.
Looking back, I don’t think I could have predicted exactly where this journey would take me, but every experience, every dog, and every client has helped shape where I am today. And honestly, I still get excited every time I meet a new dog and have the opportunity to capture their personality, their story, and the love they share with their mom.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Building a business comes with a lot of learning, uncertainty, and moments of self-doubt. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing my love of photography with everything that comes with being a business owner, from marketing and social media to finding ways to stand out.
Over time, those challenges have helped me grow and become more clear about who I am and what I want Too The Dogs Photography to represent. I’ve learned that growth isn’t always a straight line, but every challenge has helped me evolve my business into something that feels more personal and meaningful—especially as I have grown into specializing in capturing the special bond between Dog Moms and their dogs.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I get to do one of the best jobs in the world—I photograph dogs! But it’s about much more than getting a cute photo of a dog looking at the camera.
At Too The Dogs Photography, I specialize in creating fun, personality-filled photography experiences for dogs, their moms and families.
What sets me apart is that I combine a fun, relaxed photo session with a more personalized, luxury experience. From planning the session around each dog’s personality to helping clients turn their favorite images into beautiful artwork, albums, prints, and other products they can enjoy every day, I want the entire experience to feel special.
I’m most proud when a client sees their photos and says, “That is SO my dog!” Knowing I captured a little piece of their dog’s personality—and created something they can hold onto for years—is the best part of what I do.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are so many fun ways to work with and support Too The Dogs Photography! Of course, Dog Moms can book a personalized photography experience to celebrate their dog and the special bond they share.
I also love collaborating with local pet businesses, veterinarians, dog-friendly brands, rescues, and other businesses that share my love for dogs. I’m always excited to explore creative ways we can work together to create something fun and meaningful for our dog-loving community.
And honestly, one of the best ways to support a small business is simply by following along, sharing my work, recommending me to a fellow Dog Mom, or telling someone about Too The Dogs Photography. You never know who might be looking for a special way to celebrate their best friend!
If you have an idea for a collaboration—or just want to create some beautiful memories with your dog—I’d love to connect!
