Life & Work with Tash Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tash Jordan.

Hi Tash, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Before I arrived in Hollywood, I pursued the NFL. I played 2 years of Division III football before transitioning to acting. I graduated with a theatre degree, and it was go-time. On May 20, 2017, I told myself in 5 years, I would be a major film actor living in LA. Fast forward 7 years, and I’m in 3 TV shows, living in LA, and co-produced a short film that’s in post-production called The Deal. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been far from a smooth road. Acting schools don’t teach you about the business of Hollywood. I had to learn how to network and think like a CEO. Theater acting gives you the foundation, but I had to learn how to act on camera. Then there was the Pandemic or what I call Panoramic, the double strikes, and changing jobs like you change clothes. Being on TV and having to make large oat milk lattes is the most awkward position I’ve been in. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a recurring on the show Bel-Air as one of the prankster brothers. You can also see me in Grown-ish and season 6 of All American. Currently, I’m training in fight choreography with Mike Chat/XMA Action at 87 North Productions. 

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
Big opportunities call for taking risks. When I booked Bel-Air, I was living in the Bronx. I spent $600 to hop on a plane to LA to film my episodes. Try doing that multiple times & risk not having a place to stay or being asked to stay longer than expected. I took the risk in packing my life in a suitcase to fly to LA on Sept 12, 2022, and given a month to find an official place to live while I filmed Season 2 of Bel-Air. I took the risk of being a co-producer with my buddy McGregory Frédérique to put together The Deal and scrap money to fund this project while still trying to live. This is the biggest risk I took because it required me to spend more money than I was ready for. My soul was hurting when unexpected expenses popped up. It’s bad enough that the LA workforce pays disrespectful wages. I had to add more things to my credit card debt & pray to the universe to help me financially.
