Life & Work with Marcus Eaton

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Marcus Eaton again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Marcus, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
My name is Marcus Eaton, and I’m a musician originally from Idaho. From a young age, I developed a deep love for music—especially the guitar—and I’m grateful to have turned that passion into a lifelong career. Performing my music around the world is what drives me, but I also produce, collaborate with other artists, and compose for film. Every day brings a new adventure, and I’m constantly inspired by the unexpected magic of life.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Just over two years ago, I moved to Italy, and it has been an incredible adventure. I’ve been touring across Europe, playing and recording, and this year, I finally set up my studio there. I’ve been recording all the songs I wrote over the past two years while constantly on the move.

Living here is an entirely new chapter—I’m endlessly inspired by the art and history surrounding me. This year, I’m excited to release my new album, ‘What Is Real’—a project full of beauty and surprises.

I’m also honored to be producing the final album by the legendary Stephen Bishop. It’s an amazing opportunity to create in a fresh and exciting way, layering intricate guitar and vocal work to support his songs. You can already listen to one of the tracks we worked on together entitled ‘In The Limelight.’

We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?

Life is often about tough choices – can you talk to us about your thought process, strategy or philosophy when it comes to making difficult choices or tradeoffs.
Life is full of difficult choices and the lives of artists are even more difficult due to the lack of stability. My philosophy is to take everything one moment at a time. If you look at an enormous task then surely you become disheartened and often, you have no idea where to begin. So my philosophy is to break things down into daily (sometimes even hourly) tasks that become more manageable.

In terms of difficult choices, I spend a lot of time weighing how I feel about each choice and choose the one that feels lighter or more exciting. That always helps.
