Life & Work with Dallas White

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Dallas White again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Dallas, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
I guess to keep it somewhat brief, I’m still living in Los Angeles continuing my pursuit to tell important stories. As an actor, especially nowadays, it’s been a more difficult road lately but everyone would be doing it if it were easy. I found telling important stories doesn’t always mean to be in front of the camera. Writing and producing fills that void in creativity while I also continue auditioning.

The bread winner, however, is mainly marketing. My fiancée actually got me into this freelance lifestyle over a decade ago. Ironically, marketing is part of every film budget known as Prints and Advertising, P&A for short. You must ensure people will show up for your film, whether it’s screening in theaters, at a film festival, whatever the case may be. I’m really grateful I stepped into a career path that aligns with my passions, because at some point, I can use these resources to push projects forward.

I do look forward to acting, but I also want the best for every project. When the opportunity comes, sure, I’d love to. The circumstances have to be right. When I lived in Maryland, there were only a couple production companies I consistently worked with. They would film all of those true crime reenactment shows on Investigation Discovery and Reelz Network. I kind of look back at them as my acting classes in addition to my classes at a community college and black box theater. I would audition for these true crime shows and I guess I was decent enough since they just kept hiring me. I loved those skeleton crews and how we all were just telling stories; stories that are pretty disturbing but at the end of the day, we were all doing what we loved. Now, being in Los Angeles, it’s a different caliber of work and very saturated with people in the industry. But also resourceful. You have the ocean, the desert, and snow cap mountains all within a 3-4 hour radius.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Today, I have been creating my own projects from the ground up. I’m really having fun writing. I fell in love with psychological thrillers, not only as an actor, but as a writer as well. This one I’m working on adds comedic relief under very dark and disturbing circumstances. I feel it’s sort of rare to witness. I always pivot toward something that I really believe in and I believe this story will be very marketable as well when that time comes.

Project wise, I recently helped co-produce a short film titled Bandida which brings awareness on human trafficking. That’s already pursuing the film festival circuit this year. On the other hand, I assisted a fun competition where you make a 30 second Doritos commercial to potentially Crash The Super Bowl. It was fun to get with friends and create something in a day. If you watched the Super Bowl, you may have noticed… we didn’t win. Womp womp.

I feel the SAG strikes in 2023 really ruined a lot of opportunity even last year, so I’m optimistic that we will see a little more light in the film industry.

We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?

What are you most excited about in the coming year?
My fiancée and I’s wedding. It will be this Fall, so there’s definitely some time but I’m really excited to get to that chapter of my life. We’ve literally worked and planned events, so this shouldn’t be a huge stress like the stories we’ve heard about other weddings. Our main priority is to create a great experience for our closest friends and family while also keeping it super intimate and private.
