Today we’d like to introduce you to Charleen Martinez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
With 16 years in the Beauty Industry Now, My artistry has led me to opportunities all over the US and Mexico. Some of my resume references include: celebrity Matt Sorum from Guns and Roses and social media sensation Brittney Furlan, Barney’s Beverly Hills MUA, Universal Studios 2008 Horror Nights MUA, Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest MUA, Elle India (Raja Kumari Brows), countless weddings, countless models. With a teen mom college dropout STATUS, I’m blessed beyond measure to have found my purpose and passion in 2007, Attending Elegance International Makeup School in Hollywood (graduated with specialties in all areas of makeup) and then 2014 Graduating From Flair Beauty School with emphasis in Skin & Waxing where I became a licensed esthetician. Having studied and apprenticing under Kelly Baker and team for almost two years, I quickly found my specialty in Eyebrows. Not in a million years did I imagine I’d be here with two international names (arched & arched cosmetics). But when God has a plan, there’s nothing or NO ONE that can stop the blueprint from coming to fruition. 2015 January 30th in Tarzana, CA Arched was birthed, first opening up as a wax and makeup studio but quickly turned into a microblading sensation and later adding unique facials and other services.

Every day would literally pinched myself because Growing up in Sylmar, CA you really had no reason to go on the other side of the valley (with what money lol). Having Studios in Tarzana, CA (Ventura Blvd), Woodland Hills (Westfields Topanga Village) Sadly, March 2020 came and shocked not only arched but the world. We were forced and demanded to leave our creative spaces, the space where ppl came from all over the country to visit and get services by me and the staff; after moving into my apartment to work, I fell into deep depression; COVID didn’t only take my physical health but took my mental health. My purpose and gifts were put on hold, and with that I didn’t even feel like living; for a creative like me, my soul didn’t understand it, turning to vices to numb what I didn’t wanna feel. WELL, arched came back with vengeance, and we partnered up with a local Loving Salon (de cielo) in Burbank, still being able to cater to our LA & VALLEY clientele. Also welcoming a physical arched Arizona location in 2024. 35, and still feel like haven’t touched the surface.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Never knew what the word Hater meant until I opened up an LLC. People trying to tear down what you authentically build with no handouts is a real thing. But with favor on my side, I let the success speak.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in the look-good feel-good business, aka eyebrows. Emphasis on Eyebrow waxing, tattooing, and Microblading. Most proud of being able to work & mentor clients of ALL ages and backgrounds. What sets me apart is I stick to the blueprint: GOD, self-care, family, and business. I will never lose with those main ingredients. Also created my own formula for microblading.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Best thing about 818 is the culture and FOOD Imma a foodie, so I ain’t going nowhere. Least hands down, traffic.
