Hi Winnie , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My friends always have a way of making me laugh and I feel it’s to do with how comfortable we are around one another
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there!
I’m Winnie! I’m an African Australian filmmaker born in Sunny Queensland!
I started in theatre and dived into film and Tv later in life. I love creating, helping to develop stories and collaborating!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust is so important, and so therefore communication is the key. So if there is no trust a bond can be broken. It can take a lot to restore a bond but it’s an important to take time away and reflect to ensure you don’t lose that bond.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Patience. Resilience. And who I am under this skin. It’s so important to pause, and understand why you went through what you did. It shapes is, some of these negative experiences.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A script in developing with a friend. I’m excited about this next project as it’s my first time delving into a murder mystery film!! There’s so many fun elements and I’m keen to see what we cook up together.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Wasting time on things that don’t matter. We can often catch ourselves getting distracted, slipping away from what matters to us and even stopping ourselves in our own tracks with distractions. I’d ensure that I got rid of what doesn’t serve my heart joy, and focus on uplifting others.
