Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with ROHINI BEDI of ARTESIA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to ROHINI BEDI. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning ROHINI, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One of my proudest recent moments was receiving the Women’s Day Inspirational Award. It was truly humbling to be honored alongside such an extraordinary group of women, each making a difference in her own way.

Sharing that stage reminded me of the incredible power of women coming together to uplift, empower, and inspire one another.

Forever grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to share it with icons like Sue Wong, Cynthia Rothrock, Natasha Graziano, Virgellia Villegas, and so many more inspiring women.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Rohini Bedi — a fashion designer, stylist, and founder of Fashion by Rohini, a luxury Indian bridal couture boutique in Artesia, California. My greatest passion lies in designing and creating one-of-a-kind Indian bridal ensembles from scratch — outfits that are not only unique and timeless, but deeply personal. I love collaborating with brides to bring their vision to life, blending rich tradition with modern style so that each look feels truly unforgettable.

What makes Fashion by Rohini unique is our dual approach: we curate collections from India’s top designers while also offering fully custom bridal designs tailored to each bride’s story. From the first sketch to the final fitting, every detail is crafted to reflect her individuality.

Beyond fashion, I’ve had the honor of serving as Past President of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, where I continue to support local businesses and cultural initiatives. I’m also expanding into new creative ventures, including Made in Heaven LA, an exclusive matchmaking platform, and curating cultural and fashion events that bring people together.

At the heart of it all is my belief that every woman deserves to feel celebrated, empowered, and unforgettable on her special day. ✨

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was during my very first fashion show in India while I was still in college. I produced the entire event at a hotel with nearly 300 guests — designing the outfits, hiring the models, arranging the music and lights, and managing every detail. The feeling of watching it all come together was incredible, but what truly thrilled me was selling out the entire collection afterwards. At such a young age, that moment gave me immense confidence in my vision and showed me the power of turning creativity into success.”My earliest memory of feeling powerful goes back to my very first fashion show in India while I was still in college. I produced the entire event at a hotel with nearly 300 guests — designing the outfits, hiring the models, arranging the music and lights, and overseeing every detail from start to finish.

The moment it all came together was unforgettable, but what truly electrified me was selling out the entire collection that very night. At such a young age, that experience gave me unshakable confidence in my vision and showed me just how powerful it is to transform pure creativity into real success.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life was being diagnosed with cancer. It came as a complete shock — especially in the midst of a whirlwind of work, Chamber responsibilities, social commitments, and countless bridal orders. But instead of allowing it to break me, I chose to see it as a turning point.

It awakened me to a profound truth: life has an expiration date, and I was fortunate to realize that early. With that awareness, I began living with greater purpose — to create more, give more, and fulfill more. That drive inspired me to launch Made in Heaven LA and expand into Fashion by Rohini Events.

Today, I carry the mindset that every single day is a gift — and I want to achieve, contribute, and celebrate as much as I can in this beautiful, short life.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project very close to my heart — one I am committed to no matter how long it takes — is creating a nonprofit for animals in shelters. My dream is to use the power of fashion and style to give these beautiful, voiceless beings the visibility they deserve.

I imagine fashion shows, community events, and fairs where shelter animals share the spotlight, not just as companions but as stars — celebrated, admired, and ultimately adopted into loving homes.

This vision allows me to merge my creativity with my deep love for animals. It’s more than a project; it’s a promise to make a difference, and I know I will see it through.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only 10 years left, I wouldn’t stop doing anything — instead, I’d seek out even more to create, complete, and achieve. Having been fortunate to travel widely when I was younger, my focus now is on giving back to society in every way I can.

For me, it’s about making these years truly count — by creating with purpose, contributing with heart, and leaving behind something meaningful that outlives me.
