Good morning Khalia , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When was the last time you felt true joy?
Being in the studio and creating music with my friends and other creators is always my happy place because music is my first love my first passion and being able to write and hear a song come to life will always bring me joy. Currently working on mastering the Sync world. So if you need a songwriter for Syncs contact me, I have an amazing team.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Khalia and my company is called KMA Kontent. We create elevated content such as photography and videography for different brands and businesses. I have always been a creative music is my first passion. A lot of my photography is artist based as I have shot album covers, concerts, and music events. I also work with different companies, authors, non profits, entrepreneurs and venues. I have directed commercials for restaurants and events. I am set to direct my first music video coming soon. My company is always evolving and looking forward to working with new clients to create new ideas to expand their brand. KMa Kontent also offers creative director services, that include the location for your Photoshoot or videoshoot. We also offer styling services, and referrals for hair and make up. My goal is to create an elevated photoshoot experience for my clients.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe that you had to wait for moments instead of creating them but I learned quickly that in life you can’t wait in fear you can only grow being uncomfortable. Also life is amazing when you are passionate about something and for me I’ve always been a creative whether it was creating music, fashion, and now Photography, I’ve always had an outlet. And now that I am older, I’m using that creative Passion and in my business so that I can live a purposeful life created around my passions.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes losing my mother affected me in a way that reshaped my entire life. A lot of who I was and how I moved , was being a daughter first. So once you lose the most important person in your life, you have to look at life as being reborn. I learned so much during that transition. But one thing about my mother is she was the strongest woman I’ve ever seen in my entire life, and I can say that I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me so given up is not an option. I turn my pain into purpose and everything I do now is for her.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
When you stop focusing on things that are not aligned and of value, you really start to appreciate life more and people more. A lot of people hold onto people because of time how they make them feel history, etc. My best advice is know when to leave , rather it’s the job , the relationship, the city, focus on what’s aligned and what makes you happy.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, I feel most at peace in nature. I love going to rivers, streams, ocean, vacations with beautiful water. I also I love scenery. Take me to a place with a beautiful view and I will have the most peace there that clears my mind. Also music is my therapy. Being in the studio creating music, going to different shows concerts. I just love to be around good energy and good vibes.
