Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jordyn Torres of Los Angeles

Jordyn Torres shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jordyn, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am walking a path towards my goals of filmmaking and working on and off camera.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I began acting in high school and then attended film/acting schools after. I started in theatre and found a great love for film. In 2019 I wrote, produced, and directed my first film that premiered at the California Women’s film festival. Then, I wrote and produced my second short in 2019 in Alaska. The past few years I’ve been in multiple independent films and am currently an associate producer and actor in a feature. I am so grateful for all of these opportunities and look forward to what the future holds!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
One of my acting coaches, Shaun Benjamin, inspired me to write and produce my own films and helped me to gain me the courage to pursue all of my dreams, no matter how many obstacles could appear.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are loved and deserve to have your dreams come true. Hold on to hope, and let go of all the negativity that may surround you.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Writing an producing a feature film that will gain a distributer and be shown to a big audience that will enjoy and be inspired by it.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I tried my best to inspire and help others. I pursued my dreams, no matter how far away they seemed.
