Elijah Kirkland-Cuffee shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Elijah, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I just became the girls Varsity basketball coach New Roads school in Santa Monica. As a basketball coach and trainer a normal day for me consistent of training people in the morning and coaching kids in the afternoons. With the time in between the morning and afternoons I spend time working on my Coaching Course which will coming out before the end of this year. I also, am working on promoting my other side projects such as my music and my brand. Mental health and fitness are also very important and I make sure to spend time daily focusing on bettering those aspects of my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
⸻
Hi, my name is Elijah, and I’m the founder of Prophetboy, a lifestyle brand that blends spirituality, fitness, motivation, and streetwear into one movement. Prophetboy isn’t just about clothing—it’s about creating a culture where faith, grind, and impact come together to inspire people to live with purpose.
Alongside the brand, I also work on music, coaching, and creative projects that all share the same mission: to encourage young people—especially young men—to grow in confidence, discipline, and empathy while having fun along the way. What makes Prophetboy unique is that it’s not just a business; it’s my story, my testimony, and a reflection of what I believe in: staying grounded in faith, pushing yourself to greatness, and making a positive impact on the world.
Right now, I’m working on expanding Prophetboy through new apparel drops, music that motivates and uplifts, and courses designed to help people unlock their potential. This is just the beginning—I want Prophetboy to become a global reminder that purpose and positivity will always outweigh the negativity.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship I have with my mother is something that I am beyond grateful for. My mother has helped me establish myself as a young man in this world. In many ways I can look at myself in the mirror and be proud of who I see because of her. My mother has helped me to make tough decisions that have led me closer to my higher self and higher purpose. I cannot emphasize enough her importance in my life and how she truly has and still is very much a guiding light for me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering is something that I believe makes us all equal. Suffering is something that none of us are immune to. Through suffering I have found humility, faith and perseverance. Suffering has allowed me to field more motivated to become a better version of myself. The times that I have had success in my life I have not taken those opportunities to always think how can I grow. I have also had success and it has not made me humble but it has made me more egotistical. I belief that success is amazing and something we should all strive for but suffering is something that has helped me grow and the growth I’ve had is something I’m forever grateful for!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Coaching is something that I am committed to forever: I want to be able to coach/help people whether it’s as a role model, sports coach or mentor. I believe it is important to do more for others than for yourself. I hope to abide by that as a behavior and discipline and it is shown in action not just in words.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes, many times. I have found that many times my egos attachment to things has led me astray in different ways. Whether I get the things I strive for or I do not get them my wanting and yearning for them has brought me unnecessary suffering at times. I’ve now learned that it is not the getting of things that brings me happiness but the journey itself that I truly enjoy. I have surrendered more and more to the will of God in my life and I try to always ask myself now what does God want for my life and then let the answers unfold in Gods timing.
