Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Dr. Jennifer Roelands of Fullerton

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Jennifer Roelands and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Jennifer, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am being called to do a tedex talk. I would like to share with the world the idea that midlife is a time to pivot in a positive way towards optimal health.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Dr. Jennifer Roelands is redefining women’s healthcare through Precision Health MD, a personalized medicine practice treating the root causes of illness—not just the symptoms.
With an elite academic foundation (UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Duke University) and board certifications in both Integrative and Functional Medicine, she combines scientific expertise with holistic care to help women over 35 thrive through perimenopause and beyond.
In 2024, she launched her YouTube channel to empower women with tools to reclaim their energy, balance their hormones, and promote longevity.
Outside the clinic, she’s an avid hiker, a foodie, and the proud mother of four.

I am currently working on writing a book as well as a tedex talk

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my grandfather was truly special. He inspired me to pursue my dreams without judgment or bias. When many in my family were opposed to women getting an education, my grandfather’s slogan was ERA all the way!! He was my biggest supporter, friend, confidant, and overall guide for me growing up.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
To dig deep and decide if this is what you want. When you go through painful circumstances, especially when it is pain inflicted upon you, you have to dig deep and find out what you are made of. Can you proceed on and not let it bias you in the future to other humans, or will you let it consume you? When things have been tough, I’ve come to realize that I needed to understand what truly mattered to me.

Sucess leaves clues and you follow those clues but failure teaches you lesson.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yep, a sweaty perimenopausal woman who is trying to keep her shit together while dealing with parents and kids. I am the mother of four teens so you know it is a tight rope act everyday

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I never gave up on a dream. I tried everything I wanted to do, explored the world, was a great mom and wife, and cared deeply for my patients. I may have made mistakes but I led with heart.
