We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dane Morck. Check out our conversation below.
Dane , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Who are you learning from right now?
My producing partner, Spencer Paysinger.
This industry is always evolving, and we’ve had to grow with it. 2025 brought its own set of changes, but Spencer’s creative evolution as of late has pushed me to truly challenge myself professionally. Something I didn’t know I needed. He’s been the heart of Moore Street—but that honest and raw friend, first.
It’s only made us stronger.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a filmmaker based in Hermosa Beach and co-founder of Moore Street Productions.
I grew up in Palos Verdes, the film industry was always present growing up but never taken too seriously. I attended Washington State University to join the football team but ultimately found myself in a collection of theater and creative writing courses that shifted my thought and shaped my next steps. In 2009 I came back to LA, leading to seven years of relentless work in TV and film development—in what would prove to be a hands-on, crash-course education into the entertainment industry. By 2016, I had felt I could take that leap toward some sense of creative independence.
That same year, I co-developed and produced the Animal Planet series “Into Alaska,” and met my producing partner, Spencer. The two of us were connected by a close mutual friend, and we quickly sparked the idea that would become the hit CW and Netflix series “All American.” Shortly after, we founded Moore Street Productions, knowing that All American had given us an incredible platform to develop stories we really wanted.
The show heads into its eighth and final season, which is a surreal feeling. It’s become such a machine, and being able to just be a part of its journey from the start has been a life blessing. Nearly a decade immersed in All American has only inspired and sharpened everything else the two of us have been working on. An education I wouldn’t trade for a thing.
Along the ride, Moore Street has produced HBO Max’s documentary “B.S. High,” soccer club Real Madrid’s “Futbol v. Football” with NFL star Julian Edelman, Wilson Sporting Good’s “From Factory to Field” for the 2021 Super Bowl, Sublime’s music video for “Smoke Two Joints,” and UCLA’ Footballs documentary series “Building Bruins.” Through film, TV, and digital, we’ve been able to shine a very specific light on underrepresented stories while capturing familiar subjects from fresh perspectives. In 2025, I feel we’re continuing to do just that.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My Parents.
Growing up, athletics came naturally, and that was often what took most of all of our time – so the both of them really deserve their flowers for keeping creativity alive in our household. It was important, and something they knew we enjoyed. Some of my favorite life moments consist of simply going to the movies with my Father, and that’s been a tremendous reason why there was always a general interest in just learning more.
They believed there was a path, and being able to experience some special full-circle moments with them now have been some of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Slow down.
Cliché, but I spent my early years in a sprint—physically and mentally. When I was 14, football became everything. I was convinced that a single-minded approach was the best bet for my future. Now I just wish I’d explored more of what truly interested me, whether that was trying a new sport or diving into our school’s theater courses. That’s really the only time you can. Be a kid. Do stuff.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Touch base.
Everyone knows it gets harder with time to see each other as often as we’d like. I’m grateful that with my friends, we’ve always been respectful as to why—some are raising families, living across the country, or just overwhelmed. Life. So we check in, as a reminder that we’re always there It’s sometimes truly needed.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I’m someone who believes peace is something you earn to truly feel. I need the day done to finally feel like I can collect. Which is just being on the strand with my dog, Jack.
Life happens, priorities shift. I’m at that stage where “smarter, not harder” has become necessary for both my professional life and my own well-being. A year ago, getting a dog wasn’t a thought, but now I couldn’t imagine the day without him. I’m most content with him.
