Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Brian Yetwin of Burbank

Brian Yetwin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Brian, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes begin the night before. I pack lunches, get my two incredible daughters fed and settled for bed, and map out the next day’s priorities. By morning, I’m already in motion. I wake up aligned with my plan, tackle the top tasks first, organize, organize, organize, and close the day by recognizing the wins that moved me forward.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
After twelve years in entertainment advertising, I shifted careers to follow my passion for organizing people and businesses. The only thing I love more than creating productive space for clients is spending time with my daughters. We hike, play board games, watch movies, and end plenty of evenings with post‑dinner dance parties.

As an organizer, I’m not a guru, I’m a workhorse, because most people only use 20% of what they own. Not sustainable and stressful! Get Organized LA focuses on practical, sustainable systems that create real progress, not picture perfect pressure. And yes, your home or business will look photoshoot ready when we’re done. But the real value is learning how to maintain that order with minimal effort.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe failure was a weakness, but I’ve learned that grit, hard work, and a little luck are the real supports that hold long‑term success together.

I’m tough on myself, especially when it comes to my work, but I don’t see it as failure like I did when I was young. When things don’t go according to plan, I can rebound. Every setback is a chance to learn, grow, and ultimately thrive.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I have OCD, which often shows up as anxiety, and learning to manage my mental wellness revealed an unexpected strength. I channeled my drive to create organized spaces into a business that lets me express my passion while helping clients build organized, sustainable lifestyles of their own.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I work with a variety of clients, some of which run Fortune 500 companies. Smart, hard-working, and captains of their industries. They often find immediate gratifications when acquiring stuff.

Shopping triggers a “dopamine bump” because the anticipation and experience of finding deals or new items, creating a feel-good sensation or “retail high,” especially with online browsing or waiting for packages, which can become a cycle if chasing that next hit for stress relief.

When smart people realize they may not have everything but they have enough, their world becomes less stressful.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop eating doughnuts and hope that would buy me a few more years.
