Laura Osuna of Long Beach on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Laura Osuna. Check out our conversation below.

Laura , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately I have been enjoying traveling and bringing back exotic spices and trying new foods and meeting new friends.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Laura Osuna, and I’m the owner of La Dolce Vita Spa in Long Beach. I come from a large Los Angeles family with roots here since the 1840s, and I carry forward healing traditions passed down from my great-grandmother, who used hot stone massage and eucalyptus wraps as natural remedies.

At La Dolce Vita Spa, we specialize in couples’ treatments, mineral baths, body scrubs, facials, and even dog massage. What makes us unique is the way we blend luxury with tradition, using food-grade, handcrafted products and creating experiences that are both playful and deeply restorative.

Beyond the spa, I also run a youth program, Out of the Hood, a social enterprise that mentors and empowers young people from underserved communities. For me, this work is about honoring my family’s legacy while creating a space of healing, connection, and joy.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work is my mom. She showed me, by example, what it means to work hard, stay committed, and find pride in what you do. She balanced family, responsibilities, and her own challenges with strength and determination, and that shaped the way I approach my business today.

From her, I learned that work isn’t just about getting things done—it’s about doing it with integrity, and resilience. Whenever I face struggles in my own journey, I often think back to her example, and it reminds me that perseverance and love can carry you through anything.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self: trust your strength—every challenge is shaping you into exactly who you’re meant to be.”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They usually say I’m too nice lol.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I made them feel cared for, and that my legacy is one of connection, creativity, and resilience.
