Jeff Paquet & Lucas Thompson of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jeff Paquet & Lucas Thompson . Check out our conversation below.

Jeff & Lucas , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
We just finished up writing our first feature film. It has been a journey especially making over 150 short films and now I’m getting the budget for our feature film which will cost almost 10million. I wanna be the first filmmakers to make a commercial movie with unknown talent. We wanna do that for all our projects. Bringing back Og story telling.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Jeff and Lucas met in 2013 and started creating short films for YouTube; writing and producing a new short every ten days.

Jeff Paquet, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, moved to Carlsbad, California at age 13. He grew up acting in local theatre for ten years before getting into TV and film.

Lucas Thompson, originally from Moline, Illinois, received a degree in Film Production and Cinema Studies from SIUC before moving to Los Angeles in 2008.

They began writing DEAF in late 2016. Production began in 2017, wrapped in mid-2018, and premiered in early 2019 at Mindfield Film Festival Los Angeles, where it won BEST SCREENPLAY.

After starting their production company, HomeBoi Flicks, in late 2019, their newest short film, HURTCORE, was written and produced in 2020. Now in 2025 we are done writing our first feature film which is a true story about Jeff’s uncle. This movie will show who we are and the future for Homeboiflicks.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It was during one of the profound psychedelic experiences with a mega-dose of 7 grams of shrooms, when I experienced ego death, saw my future self winning a film award alongside a tall person beside me who is Luke, died and instantly came back to life. That vision clarified my entire path and dream to fulfill my film dreams—it left me feeling beyond grateful and immensely powerful ever since, driving me to pursue that future with unbreakable conviction. We all have a purpose in life. No matter how hard it is you will achieve it❤️

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Without suffering you never find your way. One of my quotes “Comfort is death and pain is success” when your comfortable your dead but when you go through that pain that’s what drives you to success and allow you to pursue what your truly destined for.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
100 percent. If you can’t be real no one will ever take you seriously or trust you. Never be ashamed to be you. That’s how you came into this world just own it and fuck what others think💯

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
We left a legacy of real story telling with raw and unknown talent. Me and Luke truly desire the art of filmmaking. Homeboiflicks will be remembered as telling original stories our way for the masses❤️
