Inspiring Conversations with P. Blake Renda of Veedor Holdings LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to P. Blake Renda.

Hi P. Blake, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
P. Blake Renda’s path runs from media to law to Wall Street, then into startups and finally into building his own investment and marketing platform in Naples, Florida, and Santa Monica, CA.

Early beginnings and media

– Blake was born in Santa Monica and raised in West L.A., eventually graduating from the University of Southern California.
– While at USC, he interned at NBC Studios in Burbank, then worked there full‑time, learning how storytelling and media shape perception.

Shift into law and high finance

– Encouraged by his father, he moved from media into law and finance, working with a major immigration law firm and then pivoting into investing.
– He joined J. & W. Seligman & Co. in Palo Alto and New York, helping manage over $20 billion in technology‑sector assets on the institutional buy side.
– Later, he was hired by American Express Asset Management (now Columbia Threadneedle) as a T/M/T fund manager, directly managing around $16 billion on a $40 billion growth team.
– His performance earned him one of Wall Street’s top honors: Institutional Investor Magazine’s “Best of the Buy Side” (ranked in 2000, finalist again in 2004).

Challenge, relocation, and startup experience

– Like many in finance, he eventually tried his hand at his own investment venture; timing around the 2008-2010 “great” recession made that effort difficult.
– He relocated to Florida and took on a new lifestyle skincare retail startup as COO, helping it grow, including a joint venture in Japan and recognition as “Florida Retailer of the Year” in 2015.
– That period, including the Great Recession, was described by him as humbling but clarifying, sharpening his sense of purpose and appetite for building things that last.

Founding Veedor Holdings and Dragon Horse

– In 2015, at a kitchen table in Naples, Blake and Julie Koester began sketching out a different kind of agency—what became Dragon Horse Agency, designed to fuse rigorous business strategy with full‑service marketing under one roof. [
– They formalized Veedor Holdings LLC as a private investment and holding company behind Veedor I (a multi‑strategy hybrid fund) and purpose‑driven ventures including Dragon Horse Agency, Dragon Horse Publishing, and Moxie Creed.
– Today, Blake serves as Co‑CEO and Co‑Founder of Veedor Holdings LLC, known as a “vision capitalist” who sees capital as “a vision turned into momentum, driven to make an impact.”

Where he is today

– Dragon Horse Agency has grown into a multi‑award‑winning, AI‑forward, integrated business and marketing firm with offices in Florida and California.
– Blake continues to invest, build brands, and serve in community and advisory roles, including board work and mentoring, and has been nominated multiple times as a Distinguished Entrepreneur in Southwest Florida.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Veedor Holdings LLC is a private investment and holding company built on entrepreneurship, disciplined investing, and a very deliberate “vision capitalist” philosophy: we use capital to turn bold ideas into momentum and impact, not just returns.

Who we are and what we do

Veedor Holdings LLC is headquartered in Naples, Florida, and operates as a private office / holding company behind several purpose‑driven ventures.

Core pillars of what you do:

– Investment & holding company– Through Veedor I, a multi‑strategy hybrid fund, you invest across public and private opportunities with a contrarian, research‑driven approach informed by deep Wall Street asset‑management experience.
– Operating companies – build and manage brands in three distinct but complementary arenas:
Dragon Horse Agency– A multi‑award‑winning, integrated business strategy + marketing agency.
Dragon Horse Publishing – A publishing house focused on children’s and young adult fiction.
Moxie Creed – A direct‑to‑consumer lifestyle retail brand.

In short, Veedor Holdings is both an investor and a builder: we allocate capital, architect strategy, and actually operate businesses day‑to‑day.

What you specialize in / are known for

From your own materials and media coverage, a few themes consistently define Veedor Holdings:

– Investing + entrepreneurship + business strategy– we’re known for combining institutional‑grade investment acumen with hands‑on company building and strategic advisory.
– Integrated business + marketing – Dragon Horse was intentionally built as a firm that puts comprehensive business strategy and full‑stack marketing under one roof—a “one‑stop shop” that was unusual when you launched it.
– Contrarian, opportunity‑seeking mindset – we emphasize challenging convention, looking where others don’t, and finding misunderstood or overlooked opportunities.
– Ubuntu‑driven culture – we explicitly root the firm’s culture in Ubuntu (“I am because we are”), stressing that people and planet are core to decisions, not afterthoughts.

What sets Veedor apart

Several differentiators show up clearly in your story:

– “Vision capitalist” philosophy – We frame capital as “a vision turned into momentum, driven to make an impact,” and position Veedor as funding visions that strengthen community and elevate society, not just short‑term gain.
– Deep institutional track record behind a boutique footprint– Co‑founder experience managing tens of billions in tech/growth assets and earning “Best of the Buy Side” honors, combined with a small, agile team and self‑funded beginnings (two years with no compensation working out of a kitchen).
– Resilience and disciplined execution – You weathered partnership changes, two natural disasters, and a pandemic while building three companies in difficult markets, attributing survival to prudent governance, disciplined management, and flexible processes.
– Integrated ecosystem of brands*– Instead of one disconnected venture, Veedor orchestrates a portfolio (agency, publishing, lifestyle brand, fund) under a unified philosophy and shared infrastructure.

What you’re most proud of brand‑wise

A few points of pride stand out:

– Dragon Horse Agency’s evolution – From a kitchen‑table concept to a multi‑award‑winning agency with local, national, and international clients, competing successfully against large conglomerates and niche boutiques.
– Building three distinct companies – Launching Dragon Horse Agency, Dragon Horse Publishing, and Moxie Creed under Veedor Holdings despite macro and operational challenges.
– Long‑term, impact‑oriented investing – Stock‑picking wins and fund performance
– Cultural and community positioning– Relocation of headquarters to Naples’ Truist Building next to Artis‑Naples and Waterside Shops, reinforcing our identity at the intersection of business, culture, and excellence.

What you want readers to know about our brand and offerings

– Veedor Holdings is a partner in both capital and thought. We don’t just invest; we architect strategy and help build resilient, differentiated brands.
– We offer an integrated platform:
– Strategic capital and investment management (Veedor I and private-office functions).
– Comprehensive business and marketing strategy via Dragon Horse Agency.
– Storytelling and IP creation via Dragon Horse Publishing.
– Consumer‑facing lifestyle offerings via Moxie Creed.
– We operate with four non‑negotiables: integrity, excellence, experience, and execution. These show up in how we manage diligence opportunities, manage risk, and serve clients and communities.
– We believe business should elevate society. From Ubuntu‑anchored culture to purpose‑driven ventures, Veedor positions itself as part of a broader movement: capital used to build better futures, not just bigger balance sheets.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Being a native Los Angeleno and graduate of The University of Southern California, the City of Angeles will always be near and dear to me.

What I like best about Los Angeles:
What I love most about Los Angeles is the scale of possibility here. The diversity of people and cultures, the creative energy, and the ability to go from the beach to the mountains in one day—it’s a city where big visions feel at home. LA offers a mix of global culture, world‑class food, and constant innovation that keeps you sharp and inspired. Of course, the weather and topography are incredible as well. As Randy Newman sings, “I Love LA!”

What I like least about Los Angeles:
What I like least is how the sprawl and car culture work against genuine community. The traffic, the distance, the pressure to ‘keep up,’ and in some pockets a very surface‑level, performative culture—they can all make it harder for people to connect deeply and build something lasting. For all its strengths, LA still has real challenges around cost of living, homelessness, and cohesion that we can’t ignore.
