Inspiring Conversations with John Wheir of Beacon Coffee Company, Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Wheir.

Hi John, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Founded in 2010 to support a void in the central coast’s specialty coffee market, Beacon began as a wholesale centric operation focused on Estate Coffees and Education. As word spread, our teaching space morphed into a full service cafe. Sixteen years later we still pride ourselves on our educational focus with both end users and our professional clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a small business is never smooth. Regulation, Covid-19 and tariffs have created the most unstable decade for small businesses in the modern era.

We’ve been impressed with Beacon Coffee Company, Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in sourcing, importing and roasting the world’s finest coffees. We take pride in our educational offerings – teaching people to make world class coffee in their homes is a great passion of ours.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Integrity and competence. The world simply doesn’t have enough of either.
