Inspiring Conversations with Emily Luk of LUK MGMT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Luk.

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Absolutely, thank you so much for having me. My journey in the entertainment and creator industries actually started long before LUK MGMT. I began acting professionally at 15 and working with talent agencies, which gave me an early introduction to what it meant to be represented, and navigate the relationship between talent and their representation. I continued pursuing acting through college, where I earned my BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen with a minor in Business Management. At the time, I never imagined that years later I would find myself on the other side of that relationship, building a management company of my own.

In 2020, I transitioned into becoming a full-time content creator. Social media opened up an entirely new side of the entertainment industry for me, and I began building my own platform and working directly with brands. Being a creator gave me firsthand experience with everything that happens on the talent side of a partnership, from creating content and building an audience to negotiating opportunities, understanding your value, and learning how to turn a personal brand into a business.

As my career evolved, I became increasingly interested in what was happening behind the scenes. I moved into influencer marketing and talent management, eventually managing dozens of campaigns at a time and working directly with brands, agencies, and creators. For the first time, I was able to see the industry from the other side, including how creators are cast for campaigns, how brands determine budgets, what happens during negotiations, and what ultimately makes a creator stand out.

Having experienced representation as an actor, brand partnerships as a creator, and campaign management from the agency side gave me a unique perspective on what I felt was missing in creator management. I knew what it felt like to be the talent relying on someone else to advocate for your career, but I also understood the business strategy required behind the scenes to create opportunities and build long-term partnerships. That ultimately inspired me to found LUK MGMT in 2025. I wanted to build the kind of management company I would have wanted throughout my own career.

Today, I get to bring all of those experiences together by working with creators across all stages and audience sizes, from emerging micro-creators to established mega-creators, helping them navigate partnerships, advocate for their value, build meaningful relationships with brands, and create new opportunities for growth. Looking back, my path from acting, to content creation, to influencer marketing and talent management feels much more connected than I realized at the time. Each chapter allowed me to understand talent representation from a different perspective, and ultimately shaped the way I built LUK MGMT and the kind of founder and manager I wanted to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating an industry that is still relatively young and evolving. The creator economy has grown incredibly quickly, but many of the standards and protections surrounding talent management, representation, contracts, and deal ownership are still developing alongside it.

As a founder, I’ve had to learn how to protect both the management and the work we put into creating opportunities for our talent. There have been situations where we’ve originated and secured significant partnerships for creators, only for changes in representation or other contractual complexities to arise along the way. Experiences like those have taught me the importance of having clear agreements, strong internal processes, and boundaries in place from the very beginning.

Those challenges have also shaped the way I lead LUK MGMT today. They’ve pushed me to become more knowledgeable about contracts, more intentional about how we structure our relationships, and more proactive about protecting the work of our team while still keeping both the creator’s and brand’s best interests at the center of what we do. I’ve also really valued working closely with legal counsel to make sure our agreements, processes, and decisions are structured thoughtfully as the company continues to grow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about LUK MGMT?
LUK MGMT is a talent management agency specializing in influencer and creator representation. We work with creators across a range of audience sizes, from emerging micro-creators to established mega-creators, helping them navigate brand partnerships and grow their presence within the creator economy.

Our work includes securing brand opportunities, negotiating contracts, managing campaign logistics, developing long-term brand relationships, and advocating for creators throughout the partnership process. We’ve worked with brands across food and beverage, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, music, and other industries.

As the founder, I oversee LUK MGMT’s overall strategy while remaining closely involved in talent management and brand partnerships. One of the things that matters most to me is maintaining a personalized approach as we grow. I want our creators to feel that there are real people behind their representation who understand their goals, advocates for their value, and is invested in helping them identify opportunities that make sense for them.

I’m especially proud of what we were able to accomplish in our first year. Within that first year, LUK MGMT secured six figures in brand partnership value for the creators we represented. For me, that milestone was meaningful not only because of the number itself, but because it reflected the trust our creators placed in us, the confidence brands had in working with our team, and the relationships we were able to build on both sides of the industry.

As we continue to grow, I want LUK MGMT to remain known for being strategic, relationship-driven, and highly intentional about the opportunities we pursue for our talent.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Building LUK MGMT has reinforced for me how important relationships and collaboration are in this industry. While I founded the company independently, so much of its growth has been shaped by the creators who have trusted me with their careers, our company’s team members who have helped bring our vision to life, and the relationships we’ve built with brands and other professionals throughout the creator space.

I’ve also learned that some of the most valuable support comes from being willing to learn from the people around you. The creator industry is constantly evolving, so I make an effort to listen to different perspectives, exchange knowledge with others in the space, and stay open to new ways of doing things.

I also genuinely get excited when opportunities come up to collaborate with other agencies. I don’t automatically view other agencies as competition. I believe there is a lot we can learn from one another, and when there is an opportunity to work together in a way that benefits everyone involved, especially the creators, I’m always open to it. At the end of the day, we are all navigating an industry that continues to grow and evolve, and I think there is value in building strong relationships rather than approaching every interaction from a place of competition.

Collaboration is also something I try to carry into the culture of LUK MGMT. I never want management to feel like decisions are simply being made for a creator. I see our role as being a partner in their career, understanding what they want to accomplish, providing our expertise, and working together to make decisions that align with their goals.
