Inspiring Conversations with Angela Alexander of Miracles in Action

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Alexander.

Hi Angela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
While I was in Japan on military duty, my husband and four children were in a horrific car crash! Our car fell 25 feet off a California highway and landed upside down on top of two parked vehicles with people inside. Praise God our car fell on their engines and not their rooftops. The people in the vehicles were extremely shaken up, but they were okay. Sadly, my two eight-year-old sons, Murice & Reggie, didn’t survive. 

Since then, I have retired from the Air Force and written my autobiography titled Miracles in Action. It’s titled that because although my sons passed instantly at the scene, miraculously, God allowed both to write and leave behind incredible goodbye letters. Murice didn’t know about Reggie’s letter, and Reggie didn’t know about Murice’s. They individually listened to the Holy Spirit and obeyed. Each letter was written above and beyond their grade and age level. Each letter answered specific questions that I would have wondered about for the rest of my life.

While I was writing my sons’ memorial program, God revealed that yes, their letters were written to soothe my soul, but more importantly, to share. And that’s when the arguments began! I gave God a laundry list of why I couldn’t, shouldn’t, and wouldn’t. For over six months, I walked in disobedience. Because at that time, I could not even say their names without a lump in my throat. I couldn’t see what God saw.

When the pain became too much to bare I woke up and said I surrender all. God, use me as You choose to. At the time, I had 15 years in the military. I asked God if He would give me the strength to put my uniform back on and stay in the Air Force for another five years, I would then retire and dedicate my life to sharing His amazing testimony. God granted me that strength.

God transitioned me from military to ministry. I’m an author, inspirational speaker, and co-producer of my documentary film, Miracles in Action. I now speak at churches, retreats, conferences, book clubs, and women’s fellowships, sharing the glory behind the story of this absolutely fascinating, supernatural testimony from the living God we serve.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Losing my sons while I was so far away, but I realized I needed to be that far away to hear God’s voice. Being in Japan, I had no choice but to be still and know that God is still God. I understood that whenever and wherever there’s a crisis, Christ is.

Walking in disobedience for over six months.

The inability to even speak their names without breaking down made it feel impossible to imagine sharing the story publicly.

I’ve written my autobiography, workbook, a children’s book, and my story has been turned into a documentary film.

I’m an author and inspirational speaker for churches, conferences, etc.

I’m known for searching for your miracles even in the midst of your storm. You can search for your miracles or your misery.
But know that whichever one you choose, chooses you.

Words are very powerful. So don’t allow your own words to be used as ammunition against yourself. Speak life over yourself.

What were you like growing up?
I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I’m the 7th of 8 children. I overheard a neighbor say one day,” The seventh child is the wonder child.” I embraced that phrase, and it became my personal slogan. I knew that wonderful things were going to happen to and for me. My children’s passing was not wonderful, but I’m pleased that I could find the miracles within the storm.

My father was in the Navy, so I went to three different high schools. I was on the varsity track teams, and I received an accounting scholarship.

Growing up, I was very quiet. Living in a home with ten people, my small voice was overshadowed. So when God called me to speak, that was not my comfort zone. I had to get out of my own way. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.
