Golsa Sadreameli of Santa Monica on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Golsa Sadreameli shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Golsa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
My work, connection, business. People always see results, then they might call you lucky, but no one see’s the hardship one put into achieving their goals, the endless hours of research, emails, self marketing, and most importantly not losing hope and not giving up. I’m proud of every step I took forward, back, and failure.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Golsa, I am a designer, Architecture and interior. I’m also an artist, yet to be discovered haha. I got into my field of work I guess with the love I had for art and sketching. I stopped creating art when I started college, and during covid, I got back into it again. Creating different mediums, my favorite is coloring pencils. However I’ve noticed my work has influenced my art in many ways. I design more buildings and cities. I call it creating my own ideal futuristic city we all might end up living in. Recently I picked up a client where I’m designing a house for them in Malibu that was burnt in the Palisades fire last year. And when I have time transferring one of my designs onto a canvas painting.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
No matter who you’re with, friendship or relationship. If they don’t like who you are, they will never like who you change to be for them. They will always expect you to change more to fit their ideal person. If not careful you will slowly lose sense of who you truly are, and can impact you in so many negative ways. My advice is don’t change, you know they won’t.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Due to some personal events in my life, I fell into depression. Events that I should have taken care of instead of swiping them under the rug. By a few months after I turned 25, one event after another lead to the highest peak of my depression. It took me 6 months to finally start to change. 5 months later by October I was doing so much better. I was back at myself again. One major thing I did was signing up for ballet class, something I always wanted to learn. By my 27th birthday(in October), I celebrated it as a milestone of one year of 0 break downs, panic and anxiety attacks. Now a days I know nothing is more important than your mental health. Nothing is worth it to put it at risk.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family, and my goals.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
When I cannot think, or feeling lost at home, I cannot wait until its night time, around midnight and take a drive in the canyons. I put on my favorite music of what I feel like listening to at the time. and drive in the night when theres no one around.
Obviously I cannot do that now due to the fires last year, many construction sites on the way, and I would want people to rebuild in peace.
