Exploring Life & Business with Sana Sultan of Sun Suns

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sana Sultan.

Hi Sana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sun Suns began with a simple idea: to create eyewear that felt less like an accessory and more like an expression of identity.

Born in Bahrain and crafted in Italy, Sun Suns was created to bring a different perspective to eyewear in the region, one that blends Italian craftsmanship with the bold, effortless spirit of Bahrain. From the beginning, we wanted every frame to feel distinctive, timeless, and unapologetically itself.

What started as a passion project has grown into a brand with a presence across the region and internationally, from Riyadh and Jeddah to London and Geneva. Along the way, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with creatives, take part in Milan Fashion Week, and build a community that shares our love for individuality and great design.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Building a brand is never a completely smooth road, especially when you’re creating something from the ground up in a region that is still developing its space within the global fashion industry.

One of our biggest challenges has been staying true to our identity while growing at the right pace. There’s always pressure to follow what’s trending or what’s already working, but we’ve been very intentional about building Sun Suns on our own terms.

But honestly, those challenges have shaped the brand just as much as the successes have.

Every obstacle has pushed us to become more resourceful, more selective, and more confident in what Sun Suns stands for. Looking back, I think the less-than-smooth moments are what have made the journey so rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sun Suns is an independent eyewear brand born in Bahrain, with every frame handmade in Italy. We created the brand around the idea that sunglasses should feel like an extension of your identity, something that completes a look rather than simply accessorises it.

We specialise in distinctive, fashion-forward eyewear that balances timeless design with individuality. Every frame is thoughtfully designed and handmade in Italy, using premium materials and craftsmanship to create pieces that feel both elevated and effortless.

What sets Sun Suns apart is the contrast at the heart of the brand: a Bahraini identity with a strong connection to Italian craftsmanship and a global fashion perspective. We’re proud of where we come from, while constantly looking beyond our surroundings for inspiration.

One of the things we’re most proud of is seeing Sun Suns grow from a Bahraini idea into a brand that has been recognised on international platforms, including Milan Fashion Week.

Ultimately, we want people to know Sun Suns for its character. We’re not interested in creating eyewear that everyone else is wearing. We want our frames to make you feel like yourself, only a little more unapologetic.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m a big believer in constantly looking outside of your own industry for inspiration. A lot of what influences Sun Suns comes from fashion, photography, art, architecture, travel, and culture rather than just business resources.

Beyond that, I think one of the most valuable resources is simply being curious. Visiting new places, meeting creative people, seeing exhibitions, travelling, and paying attention to what’s happening around you can be just as valuable as any book or podcast.

For me, inspiration doesn’t really have an off switch.
