Exploring Life & Business with Eun Soo Lee of Rosecrans Square Dental

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eun Soo Lee.

Hi Eun Soo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I came to the United States when I was 15 years old and was fortunate to be taken in by my aunt and cousin, who became my second family. They supported me wholeheartedly throughout my high school and college years, even while managing their own challenges. I’ll always be deeply grateful for the sacrifices they made and the unconditional care they showed me.

During those years, I often saw my aunt quietly endure severe tooth pain. She never mentioned it to me directly, but I would overhear her talking to my uncle about it, often saying things like, “It’s too expensive; I’ll just take a painkiller.” Those words stayed with me. I realized how common it is for people to neglect their oral health due to financial hardship, and that realization sparked something in me. That’s when I first thought, What if I could become a dentist and help people like her?

At the time, I didn’t fully understand what that path would demand — academically, financially, or emotionally. But I was determined to try. I focused on my studies and pushed through the many obstacles that came my way, from student loans to housing challenges, with the constant encouragement and support of my family.

Fast forward to today — I’ve been practicing dentistry for nine years. Every day, I’m reminded of why I started: to provide compassionate care to my patients and to make dental health accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. And one of the greatest joys of my journey is being able to care for the very people who inspired it — my family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most journeys, mine hasn’t always been smooth. I come from a humble background — my parents worked hard, but we didn’t have the financial means to fully support my studies abroad. My mom, determined to give me a better opportunity, reached out to my aunt in the U.S., who graciously agreed to take care of my living expenses while my parents covered tuition. That’s how my journey in America began.

Academically, I managed to do well, even if I wasn’t always at the very top of my class. The real challenge was financial stability. My aunt did everything she could, but given her own circumstances, I knew I had to find ways to support myself. I started working as a Teacher’s Assistant in college and also offered after-school lessons in subjects I excelled at. Those experiences not only helped me stay afloat financially but also strengthened my sense of responsibility and discipline.

Getting into dental school was both exciting and daunting — the cost was far beyond what my family could manage. With the support of my family, I was able to secure a private loan to cover tuition and living expenses. It wasn’t easy, but every challenge along the way shaped me into the person and professional I am today.

Looking back, I feel incredibly blessed for the people who stood by me through every obstacle. Their belief in me carried me forward, and now, as a practicing dentist, I’m committed to giving back to the community that helped make this dream possible.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rosecrans Square Dental?
My dental clinic is a small, community-focused practice built on the idea of being a true “family dentist.” I take pride in knowing my patients personally and creating an environment where they feel comfortable and cared for — not just another face in a busy office. Many of my patients appreciate seeing the same dentist every time they visit, which helps build trust and long-term relationships.

As a general dentist, I provide a wide range of services — from dental implants and implant-supported dentures to routine fillings, crowns, and gum care such as cleanings and deep cleanings. I’m always looking for ways to integrate new and proven technology into my practice to give patients the best possible experience and outcomes.

One of the advancements I’m most proud to offer is same-day zirconia crowns. While many offices can produce same-day porcelain crowns, zirconia crowns are known for their superior strength and durability — especially for back teeth — but they’re typically made in dental labs, which can take two to three weeks. At my clinic, I’m able to design, mill, and finish zirconia crowns on-site in just one day. It’s more work on my end, but it allows me to ensure quality from start to finish and helps patients receive high-quality, long-lasting restorations without the usual wait or high cost.

This commitment to innovation and affordability reflects my broader philosophy — that exceptional dental care should be accessible to everyone. I’m constantly exploring new materials, techniques, and technologies to make dentistry faster, more efficient, and more comfortable for my patients.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
For me, the most important quality behind my success is trust. Dentistry isn’t just about technical skill — it’s about building genuine trust with every patient who sits in the chair. While any dentist can perform a dental procedure, not every dentist takes the time to make patients feel safe, heard, and confident.

Many people come in with fear or anxiety — sometimes because of past negative experiences or simply the nature of dental treatment itself. I believe trust begins with communication. I make it a point to explain every step of the process in clear, simple terms and to answer all of my patients’ questions, no matter how small. When patients understand what’s happening and why, they start to relax and develop confidence in their care.

That’s why I intentionally avoid overbooking appointments — so I can give each patient the time and attention they deserve. I’ve learned that those extra few minutes of conversation can make all the difference. Most of my patients appreciate the detailed explanations — though some like to joke that I talk too much! But to me, that’s a compliment — it means they’re listening, engaged, and, most importantly, they trust me.
