Today we’d like to introduce you to Porsha Harris.

Hi Porsha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Porsha Harris, I am 27 years old. Recently, married last January. In my spare time I love riding horses, giving back to the community and spending time with family. I am a licensed pre-need memorial and burial insurance agent. I come from a medical background, so when I entered into the pre-need world, I really did not know how well I was going to adapt to it but, one thing I did know for sure God was with me and I knew I could not fail. My father-in-law who introduced the business to me in March of 2019 pushed and pushed me, he saw things in me that I did not see in myself at first. He took me up under his wings and showed me everything that I know today. At first, I did not understand my purpose, I thought my purpose was becoming a medical doctor but it was not. One day my wonderful and supportive husband and I were talking and he says to me “you may not be a medical doctor, but you are still a doctor in your business.” I was shocked he said that then he proceeds to say “you are helping families in every aspect”. I absolutely love what I do! I would not change it for nothing in the world. I feel like every time I login to social media, I see at least 3 GoFund Me accounts for memorial and burial services. Hint: I login to social media DAILY. So you do the math. FEP Consultants is determined to cut that number in half, if not take it away completely. We are in the PEOPLE business. It brings us great joy knowing that we were able to EDUCATE, help keep families dignity, time and money!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NO, absolutely not! In the beginning, it was rough speaking on the topic about death. No one wants to even think about it, let alone talk about it. It is a very sensitive subject for some people. The most challenging part was learning how to approach people about planning their home going service. I had many, many people hang up in my face, never return my phone calls or emails and I even had a husband and wife schedule a consultation and when I arrived they did not answer the door but, I saw them looking out the window. Those were the same people who lost a loved one(s) months later due to COVID-19 and because they did not have any insurance, they had to create GoFund Me accounts to help pay for a memorial service.
