Today we’d like to introduce you to JP Amistoso.
Hi JP, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to the US when I was 20 after graduating university in the Philippines. I moved away from family to see what I can build here in the US. Its been a journey. I worked in the medical field for a while and fitness/training has always been my outlet during long grueling days.
In 2011, I founded Ganbatte Fitness (back then it was Crossfit Ganbatte). I wanted to create a space for people to get together, and be with like minded people who do their best and wanting to find a better version of themselves through community and fitness. Ganbatte is a place where ordinary becomes extraordinary.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning a business and striving for better is NEVER a smooth road. It’s not suppose to be. I did a lot of growing up for the past ten years. I made mistakes, had to make very uncomfortable decisions and learned tons. Learned that I need to be flexible and firm at the same time.
I think every small business owner who went through the pandemic and survived would say that this would be the biggest struggle as a business owner and businesses who came out of it have learned a lot and are equipped to move forward.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ganbatte Fitness?
I am a CF Level 3 strength and conditioning coach, celebrity trainer and athlete. My specialty would be building work capacity for athletes. What sets me apart are my training methodologies and there is something to be said for being an athlete who practices the training. Always a proud moment when my athletes are able to accomplish their goals. Whether it’s weight loss or doing their first race or competition.
Ganbatte is one of the best training facilities in Los Angeles. It’s a 5000 square foot space with a lot of parking and amazing high-level coaches. It’s one of the best places to train and reach your goals in Los Angeles
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We have been open for ten years and there has been a ton of changes/shifts in trends. Our goal as an institution is to stick to our core values and what we are about at the same time being flexible to the changes that comes ahead.
