Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Kirkegaard-Jensen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After retiring from public service, I started as a one SUV operator in 2013. I had always done some executive driving in the past and this was an easy transition. I started a national network of Black Car and SUV operators that aligned with the brand I was trying to build. My company now has a national presence and is in three countries. We service Fortune 100 companies, professional sports teams, movie studios, conferences, events, weddings, and families.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Anytime you start a venture it is not a smooth road. I’d say the real struggles lasted for years after start up and then having to manage Covid, which set things back significantly. The most common struggle initially was capital. Trying to fund expansion, increase market presence, and fixed costs are real challenges. They still are today. I learned to become a real CEO and learned more business strategies to position my company in a more equitable light. Building a loyal client base initially was hard to do with so much competition.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have 23 years in public service. Most of which is private and I cannot disclose the details. But, I am an expert in logistics, planning, and solving problems. This is where I stand out in my niche. I solve problems and provide solutions at a level that most businesses in my industry do not. We are truly elite. I am proud that my brand has a touch of home (Denmark). From the name to the colors. The name VIKING SUV portrays who we are. Strong, loyal, hard working. Exceptional is a trademark of the brand. Lastly, a key aspect to growth and reputation building is linking yourself to community causes. I love to volunteer and I also donate to military, police, k9, and special Olympics charities.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
If you do not take risks, you cannot be in business. You cannot sit back and do nothing if you want to grow and enjoy your business and personal life. You must over come all fears. I have taken major risks all my life. Some bigger than others. I am always willing to take risks, it’s like an entrepreneurs drug. I thrive on pressure and risk. Business owners are unique in this way We are often the last one’s to receive the benefits of our commitment and hard work. 9 to 5 simply is not for us.
