Today we’re excited to be connecting with Diego Torres Kuri again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Diego, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
I’m a passionate of the arts. I’m an actor with a deep drive for connecting with people through meaningful projects. My journey began with formal training in dramatic arts, which opened doors to roles in series like Life as a Mermaid and international productions like Bollywood’s Maidaan. I’d define my work as a commitment to growth and collaboration, blending creativity with purpose to tell stories that resonate. Each step of this journey has been about learning and finding ways to make an impact through the arts. I like to think of my journey as only the beginning of a long road, filled with ups and downs and everything in between, because that’s what makes the journey and the story interesting.
Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
‘Maidaan’, the Bollywood movie I was part of, was finally released this year and it charted to #2 in India and won the acclaimed Septimius Award in Amsterdam for Best Asian Film in 2024. It has also received several nominations ath the International Indian Film Academy. It’s an honor to be a part of this movie, and such an amazing story.
Also this year, the Spanish Crown launched a competition for Federico Garcia Lorca’s memorial, and I was invited by a great writer to be a part of his ensemble for a play he wrote to participate, it was an amazing experience, one of the best written scripts I’ve read in a long time and such a talented crew and cast.
The experience of working on an international production like Maidaan was transformative, pushing me to grow as an actor while collaborating with such talented professionals. Beyond that, I’ve been focusing on refining my craft, exploring new opportunities, and continuing to build a career that allows me to connect with audiences through meaningful stories. This journey is ever-evolving, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
