Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle “Stoni” Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle “Stoni” Clark.

Hi Danielle “Stoni”, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started juicing after my mother’s cancer came back for the 2nd time. I wanted to be able to help in some way since chemo was so hard on her the first time. So I did a little research and found juicing to be beneficial for her to get the nutrients her body needs. After she beat cancer for the second time she gave me my juicer back (because she’s a smoothie girl lol) and I started juicing on my own. I started by making ginger shots since I used to buy them a lot and I would post it on social media. Then one of my friends sent me a food business program through Mandela Partners and they walked me through the business side and I graduated the program. At our graduation a Foodwise representative was there and they asked me if I’d want to be apart of their Juneteenth farmers market at the ferry building in sf and I was elated! After that market I was asked to come back quarterly until I was offered a permanent position. A year later I started at another market in Old Oakland and so now I’m doing two markets!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part it has been strangely smooth lol I think this is something I’m meant to do. The hardest part is more mental like finding the flow of production has been the hardest. Which days should we prep, how much should I order, trying to predict the trends and what people want.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My name is Stoni and I am a rapper actress, creative artist from Oakland, California. I’ve been wrapping my whole entire life. It’s kind of ingrained in me, but I also own a juice company. As far as artistry goes, I am in the midst of putting out my first full project produced by Tope. I’m super excited and proud of that project. It is a collection of songs that I made over the course of a couple of years while I was going through a very very transitional phase and to come out on the other side of it and see what it’s become is really beautiful. I actually started by juice company in the midst of making this project as well. My juice company was burped out of frustration with not only jobs, but myself wanting to gain more control over my life. There was a year where was half of my income. Was strictly from music and doing shows and touring and when that slow down, I had to go back to doing Amazon delivery or in getting like a regular job and I was just kind of fed up and my mother was a two time cancer survivor and the second time her cancer came back we decided to juice I bought her a juicer with juice so she could get nutrients she beat her cancer. She gave me my juicer back lol and that’s how my juice company was kind of birthed.

When I make music, I wrap from a very personal experience it is things that I’ve experienced things I’ve seen things I’m working through and sometimes I feel I’m the only one that can relate to it because I’m actually going through it but when I perform the beautiful thing about that is other people grasp onto realities in my music as well and it helps them and they can relate to it it truly is beautiful what sets me apart as far as my juice company I’m very community based and when we are like a waste reduction company so we we have a recycling program everything comes in glass bottles when you give us the bottles back you get a dollar off per bottle towards your next purchase. Everything is locally sourced we source from our local farmers so a lot so our juices are seasonal and rotate with the seasons. We also create nutrient powder based out of the list, the leftover fiber pulp from the juice. And I’m just learning as I go with that. It’s been a blessing to give birth to something out of thin air. I’m truly blessed.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I was just like to say whatever you want to do in this life you should do it no matter if you’re scared or if people judge you or if you don’t know everything you will figure it out along the way and I know that’s sounds corny and you hear it every day, but it truly is the truth. That being said on the lookout for my debut album to whom it may concern and come check me out with my juice company. We’re at farmers markets every weekend in the Bay Area Oakland every Friday Saturday we’re in San Francisco at the ferry building. Also be on the lookout for a screenplay that I’m writing. That is my next creative adventure that I’m getting ready to go on.
