Daily Inspiration: Meet Chris Tedesco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Tedesco.

Hi Chris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Trumpet in Middle school in the Niagara Falls NY area and played it all through school and then College at the University of Miami. Upon graduation I “went on the road” with the Glen Miller band for a short time and then the Tommy Dorsey Big Band for over a year which led me to working on Cruise Ships in order to gain experience and save money to move to Los Angeles to chase my dream of being one of the freelance players there. I moved to LA in 1987 to become a Studio Trumpet player, a Musician Contractor and a live Musician. I’ve achieved more than I would ever dreamed of, performed in the studios for major motion pictures, with some of the top artists for their albums and still do 39 years later.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh God no, smooth? there’s no smooth straight up the ladder curve for anyone in the freelance music community ever ver ver,….it’s peaks and valleys and still can be that way to this day, it’s just a different, changed environment now. Struggles are technology, outsourced work to places around the Globe,….

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I play Trumpet in the Classical and Jazz world, sight read music for a living and love to create with Composers for their film scores for Movies, TV and artists. I specialize in music that requires horns and truly love specializing in the vintage Jazz music era – music from the 1920’s thru the 1940’s. I have a recording studio at my house and have been “remotely” recording for 22 years.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
