Daily Inspiration: Meet Barry Papick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Papick.

Hi Barry, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After graduating from The George Washington UniversityI lived in NYC for 22 years where I studied Acting with Lee Strasberg, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler and Susan Batson. I was lucky enough to do about 25 feature films, 40 plays and had a Series (with Sarah Michele Gellar and Mira Sorvino among others) called Swan’s Crossing. I taught at The John Strasberg Studio, The Lee Strasberg Studio and Black Nexxus with Susan Batson. I moved to Los Angeles in 1997 and did Feature Films, Guest Starred on many episodics and did some plays around town. I have coached Sean Connery, F. Muarry Abraham, Jamie Foxx, Sonja Sohn, Dennis Quaid, Rob Brown, RZA (and his 2 sons,) Fifth Harmony among others. I have taught and was the Artistic Director at BP Acting Studios where my students included Darren Dewitt Hanson, Alison Sudel, SueAnn Pien among many others. I continue to Act (just shot the Feature Jazz Daredevil and the shorts Once More Like Rainman and The Men’s Room (Lead.) I was lucky (and am old enough) to study Acting with the greatest Acting Teachers of all time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an Actor is never a smooth road. It’s messy I have, of course, had ups and downs. Years that were financially plentiful and years that were extremely dry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love being an artist (I even have a tattoo that is the Chinese symbol for artist and the Hebrew Symbol for Life.) My work is powerful, intimate and certainly not for everyone. It is about truth and depth.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I was lucky, when I was young Feature Films and Television paid much more then today. But given the same circumstances, I would have acted in a living room because I love and am blessed with what I do.
