Daily Inspiration: Meet Amy Budden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Budden.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It’s been an unlikely journey. I went from working in Hollywood as a comedy film editor for Adam Sandler to becoming a stay-at-home mom, where my life took a turn I never could have planned. It was in that season that my technique was born, out of a mother’s love and intuition.

When my toddler became critically ill, I needed a way to soothe her. Late at night, when her lungs would fill with fluid, I would do anything to help her feel safe. In an effort to distract and calm her, I discovered what I later learned (through my training) was self-hypnosis and a flow state. She had an unlikely, rapid healing through her own visualization, and that experience changed the direction of our lives.

I went on a deep dive to understand how deep relaxation, specific brainwave states, and positive belief can support the body’s ability to heal. I studied neuroscience, experimented with frequencies embedded in music to soothe and induce relaxation, and even MacGyvered a vibroacoustic chair in my garage to infuse the body with frequency. That path led me to create Connect The Mind, where we train the brain to change your mind and body.

The Connect The Mind app came after thousands of sessions and two decades of my own meditations. Each track is infused with the collective wisdom of a decade of clients, and the universal truths that became clear when life takes a brutal turn: what do we need to believe, and what do we need to hear, to stay steady? The app is designed to help people access deep calm and real change through a neuroscience-based technique using a frequency I developed. We made it simple with a frequency-infused recording we call the Magic Nap™, and the app now includes 1,100 tracks across 30 channels, including Fertility, Child Birth, and Cancer Care.

Apart from the app, I work with individuals, corporations, and patients to help them get their mind on their team, so they feel supported from the inside out. At its core, we all need a positive voice in our head during lifequakes, and a tool to meet the difficult moments, whether it’s everyday overwhelm or something as intense as IVF or chemotherapy. At Connect The Mind, we say you can train your brain to change your mind and body, because you have the power and once you train yourself to believe it so your body follows . You can find the hundreds of testimonials on my Instagram @connectthemind.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

It has not been a smooth road, and I think that’s part of why I care so much about building tools that help people stay steady when life is unpredictable.

On the business side, I went through three separate app builds before getting Connect The Mind to where it is today. That meant years of reworking, reinvesting, and staying committed to the vision even when the process was slower and more expensive than I ever expected.

On the personal side, the hardest moments have been tied to events that were completely outside of my control. Covid was a major one. Many of my clients were immune-impaired, so I shut down in-person work to protect them, and the community that had been so connected in Los Angeles became dispersed.

Then, as we were finally delivering the app, the fires hit. My business and home were impacted, my location burned, and the financial impact was significant. I was displaced again, and my Palisades-based clientele dispersed and I had a team that I was paying to deliver that I couldn’t utilize because I was unhoused.

Layered into all of that were the broader industry disruptions in Los Angeles, including the writers’ strikes, which affected the rhythm of the city and many of the people I serve.

The through-line is that I’ve had to keep choosing resilience, not as a concept, but as a daily practice—continuing to follow through despite my own lifequakes to deliver a tool I believed in wholeheartedly . I practiced what I preached myself in those moments and I am proud that I delivered a tool to help people train their brain to change their mind and body when support matters most.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets Connect The Mind apart is that it’s not just meditation content, it’s a neuroscience-based technique built around a frequency I developed to help train the brain to change your mind and body. It’s informed by the real-life experiences of my clients that taught me what actually works, and I made it simple and accessible through a frequency-infused recording we call the Magic Nap™, so even “untrained meditators” can drop into a deeply restorative state quickly. I also believe there’s a quality of love and care carried in the cadence of my voice; like a lullaby, it can soothe the nervous system and help the body feel safe enough to shift. My hope is that the devotion I feel when I record is transmitted and received through the unique frequencies of voice and music.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have had the same mentor, Cherl O’Neil (https://cheryloneil.com/about-cheryl/) for over ten years and I invest in bi- monthly visits with her . She is a clinical hypnotherapist with 50 years of experience. I also learned from Stephen Kotler, Dr Joe Dispenza and many others including my medical mentor Dr Michael Galitzer. I think the reason I was so lucky to have alot of mentoring and one on one time with masters was I was relentlessly curious in my pursuit of understanding. I also prioritized and invested in any opportunity to learn with them. I have been told that they could tell how grateful I was to be uncovering an understanding of the “why” it works.
