Conversations with Unit21

Today we’d like to introduce you to Unit21.

Hi Unit21, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Unit21 started as a high school club back in 2021. While we primarily performed in school as a unit, we had the idea to start an outside of school unit as well for those who did not attend our school and or wanted to continue but may have already graduated. Since then we have continued both inside and outside of school with two units. We are a team of passionate dancers dedicated to celebrating K-Pop culture through energetic performances and engaging choreography. We participate in local competitions, community events, and collaborate with other teams, showcasing the latest K-Pop hits while promoting teamwork and creativity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dancing with many different people always brings new experiences all around. Of course we do have stressful moments in and out of practices as most of us still work full time jobs on top of being in Unit21. Finding the time to learn our choreography and schedule practices with EVERYONE is very difficult.

Another struggle we still face in each project is cleaning the choreography as a unit. We are required to learn everything at home before practices begin and because many of us have different dance styles, sometimes cleaning the group to become uniform can be difficult.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize and are known for our Kpop Dance Covers. With almost 10K on Youtube, we upload new dance covers almost every week showcasing the newest Kpop hits. We are most proud of our consistency in uploads. Getting a new project out every week can be very difficult with members schedules but we somehow always make it happen! I think what sets us apart from others is our team leader’s eyes for cleanliness. We do have a reputation of being a super clean dance group which is very hard to achieve.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We define success as feeling great after each performance. We don’t need a win to feel as though we succeeded. As long as you walk off the stage feeling as though you did your best and have no regrets, that’s our version of success.
