Community Highlights: Meet Regina Tseikhin of The Beauty Box

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Tseikhin.

Hi Regina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey with The Beauty Box began in 2005 in West Hollywood, California. I saw an opportunity to create something different in the beauty industry, a place where customers could discover unique, high-quality beauty products and emerging brands that weren’t always easy to find.

From the very beginning, I believed the future of retail would extend far beyond a physical storefront. That same year, we launched The Beauty Box online, at a time when e-commerce was still relatively new and the way consumers discovered and purchased beauty products was beginning to change.

Over the years, The Beauty Box evolved alongside the industry. What started as a beauty retailer grew into a much broader business focused on e-commerce, marketplaces, and brand development. Working closely with beauty brands gave me a firsthand understanding of one of the biggest challenges they face: creating a great product is only the beginning. Building visibility, navigating major marketplaces, reaching the right customers, and turning that exposure into sustainable sales requires an entirely different level of expertise.

Amazon became a major part of that evolution. Through years of hands-on experience, we learned how to navigate the complexities of the platform, from product positioning and listing optimization to advertising, inventory, logistics, compliance, and overall marketplace strategy.

Today, The Beauty Box works with brands to help build and grow their presence across major online marketplaces. We don’t simply look at ourselves as a seller or distributor. We approach each brand as a long-term partner, investing our experience, resources, and knowledge into creating sustainable growth.

One of the things I’m most proud of is that, more than 20 years after starting The Beauty Box, I’m still learning and evolving. The beauty industry has changed dramatically since 2005, and so has our company. I believe our longevity comes from being willing to adapt, recognize opportunities early, and never become complacent.

What began as one beauty store in West Hollywood has grown into a business that helps brands navigate an increasingly complex digital marketplace and I’m incredibly excited about where we’re going next.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road…and I don’t think any business that has survived and evolved for more than 20 years has had one.

One of the biggest challenges has been constantly adapting. The beauty industry has changed dramatically since I started The Beauty Box in 2005. We went from a traditional brick-and-mortar environment to e-commerce, social media, Amazon, and now an industry where technology and consumer behavior seem to change almost overnight. Every major shift required us to learn, adjust, and sometimes completely rethink the way we did business.

There were also plenty of moments when things didn’t go according to plan. We’ve dealt with changing marketplaces, increased competition, difficult partnerships, rising costs, inventory challenges, and investments that didn’t always produce the results we expected. As a business owner, you quickly learn that you can make the best decision with the information you have and still have things go wrong.

One of the hardest lessons for me was learning that growth isn’t always about doing more, it’s about knowing when to change direction. There have been times when I’ve had to let go of ideas, strategies, or relationships that I had invested a tremendous amount of time and energy into because they were no longer right for the business.

But those challenges are also what shaped The Beauty Box into what it is today. Every difficult period forced me to become a better business owner, trust my instincts more, and become comfortable with change.

I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is less about avoiding problems and more about becoming really good at solving them. After more than two decades, I still face challenges every day, the difference is that now I know challenges don’t necessarily mean something is going wrong. Sometimes they’re simply part of getting to the next level.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Beauty Box?
Today, The Beauty Box is much more than the beauty retailer I originally started in 2005. We have evolved into an e-commerce and marketplace company that specializes in helping beauty and lifestyle brands build, manage, and grow their presence on major online marketplaces, particularly Amazon.

What sets us apart is that we approach brands from both sides of the business. We understand the brand and marketing side, but we also understand the operational and financial realities of actually selling on a marketplace. Our work can include everything from marketplace strategy, product positioning, SEO, listing optimization, A+ Content and creative development to advertising, inventory planning, fulfillment, compliance, pricing, and day-to-day account management.

We essentially become an extension of the brands we work with.

I think another thing that makes us different is that we are extremely hands-on. We aren’t simply an agency delivering reports and recommendations. When we partner with a brand, our goal is to identify what is preventing it from reaching its potential and then actually do the work required to grow it. We look at the entire business—not just advertising or one individual listing.

We also have a particular passion for discovering products and brands that we believe deserve greater recognition. Some incredible companies have amazing products but don’t necessarily have the internal resources or marketplace expertise to compete against much larger brands. Helping those companies find their audience and watching their businesses grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Brand-wise, one of the things I’m especially proud of is Brush Clean Pro. Building and growing a brand ourselves has given us an entirely different perspective. We aren’t advising our partners from the sidelines, we experience many of the same challenges they do. We’ve gone through the process of launching products, building listings, creating content, investing in advertising, developing a customer base, and competing for visibility ourselves. That experience makes us better partners because we understand what is actually at stake.

After more than 20 years in this industry, what I’m most proud of isn’t one particular milestone. It’s that The Beauty Box has continued to reinvent itself. We started as a beauty store in West Hollywood, became an early e-commerce retailer, expanded deeply into online marketplaces, and today help other brands navigate that same evolution.

If there is one thing I would want readers, and especially brand founders to know about The Beauty Box, it’s that we genuinely care about building businesses for the long term. We’re always looking for brands with great products, strong stories, and untapped potential. When we believe in something, we don’t just want to sell it—we want to help build it.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Los Angeles is its creativity and diversity. It’s a city where people come to build something, reinvent themselves, and pursue ideas that might seem impossible somewhere else. There is an incredible mix of beauty, fashion, entertainment, wellness, and entrepreneurship, which made it the perfect place to start The Beauty Box.

West Hollywood, in particular, will always be special to me because it’s where our story began. Being surrounded by such a creative and trend-driven community had a huge influence on the business and gave me a front-row seat to so many changes in the beauty industry.

What do I like least? Definitely the traffic! Los Angeles is an amazing city, but sometimes getting a few miles down the road can feel like an entire journey. After all these years, I still haven’t figured out how to love that part.
