Today we’d like to introduce you to Israel And Anthony Aquino And Torsarkissian.
Hi Israel and Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Red Stag Construction works throughout Los Angeles on high-end residential and commercial projects with an emphasis on the custom, unique, and architecturally distinctive. From custom homes and major renovations to commercial spaces and restoration work, we’re drawn to projects that go beyond standard construction. Our work includes custom millwork and architectural woodwork, one-of-a-kind cabinetry, stone and tile, specialty fabrication, architectural staircases, custom bars and wine rooms, luxury closets, specialty finishes, indoor-outdoor spaces, and integrated lighting and technology.
Israel Aquino founded Red Stag in 2011 and built his career through years of hands-on experience in the field. Anthony Torsarkissian and Israel knew each other before becoming partners, having worked together at another construction company where they discovered they shared similar ideas about how a construction business should operate and how clients and teams should be treated. Eventually, they decided to combine their strengths and pursue projects together.
Their different skill sets have become one of Red Stag’s greatest strengths. Israel stays closely connected to the jobsite and clients, bringing years of real-world construction experience, while Anthony focuses on operations, technology, and growth. Anthony builds systems around the feedback Israel brings from the field, while Israel is quick to adapt to new technology and processes that make the company stronger. Together, they’ve adopted new construction software, streamlined internal processes, and more recently integrated AI into the company’s day-to-day workflow—all with the goal of growing without sacrificing quality, communication, or the client experience.
Today, Red Stag continues to take on larger, more complex, and more distinctive projects throughout Los Angeles—work that challenges us creatively and technically, whether that’s restoring an architectural element, creating something completely custom, or managing a project with countless moving pieces. For us, growth isn’t simply about doing more projects. It’s about taking on work we’re proud of while continuing to build a company centered around quality, accountability, communication, and strong relationships with our clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Israel:
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting out as a builder and contractor came with a major learning curve, and I made plenty of mistakes along the way. Every project taught me something new not only about construction, but about estimating, budgeting, hiring the right people, staying organized, and running a business.
One of my biggest lessons has been realizing that you can’t do everything yourself. As a contractor and business owner, you’re constantly balancing the jobsite, clients, finances, and the day-to-day responsibilities of running a company. Over time, I learned that building a strong team, trusting people’s strengths, and working together is what allows both the projects and the company to grow.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Red Stag Construction is a Los Angeles-based general contractor specializing in high-end residential and commercial construction. We work on luxury homes, exclusive properties, hillside construction, major renovations, restorations, and distinctive commercial spaces throughout Los Angeles. We’re especially drawn to custom, architecturally interesting, and technically challenging projects that require more than a standard approach.
Hillside construction and highly customized work are a big part of what we do. Our projects can include custom millwork and cabinetry, specialty fabrication, stone and tile, architectural staircases, luxury closets, bars and wine rooms, specialty finishes, indoor-outdoor living, and integrated lighting and smart-home technology. We enjoy working alongside clients, architects, designers, engineers, and specialty trades to take unique ideas and figure out how to execute them in the real world.
What sets Red Stag apart is the combination of hands-on construction experience with a modern approach to managing projects. We continually invest in better systems and emerging technology to improve coordination and communication, while keeping the client relationship personal. We’re proud to take on complex projects with a lot of moving pieces and make the experience feel organized, collaborative, and enjoyable from start to finish.
What were you like growing up?
Israel:
I was born in Mexico and grew up energetic, curious, and always wanting to learn. Some of my earliest hands-on experience came from helping my father with plumbing, carpentry, and auto-repair projects. My parents also taught me responsibility, respect, and the importance of helping others—values that have stayed with me throughout my life.
Moving to the United States at a young age was a major adjustment. I arrived without knowing the language or my classmates, but I learned to adapt quickly. Sports helped me connect with people, and over time I took on leadership roles, including becoming captain of my basketball team and president of the Young Entrepreneurs Club. Looking back, those experiences taught me determination, leadership, and adaptability—qualities that still influence how I approach my business and the team we’ve built at Red Stag today.
