Community Highlights: Meet Alex Neiman of GoodMorning | NeimansView

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Neiman.

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I don’t really know what would be an appropriate time to begin, but I started my career in a much more creative environment, doing advertising campaigns for the motion picture industry and then traditional advertising for brands at a major ad agency. At the time, I was frustrated because I felt like those roles were not what I wanted. I wanted to go in-house and be closer to the brands, and I was having a hard time transitioning out.

I went and got my MBA. What I learned, both in advertising and in this MBA program, was that oftentimes the most simple path forward is the best, and the most simple campaign is the best. We, as people, just need to be fed, not the best, but impactful.

Coming out of my MBA program, I went and worked as a brand manager at a really big brand, and then I learned paid media. I was at small companies running Meta ads and Google ads for them. At a certain point, I got called back to that major brand that I was a brand manager at, and I was asked to lead their paid media and growth teams. I did that, and the brand was ultimately purchased by private equity. I was appropriately laid off, and I got a job making content for this new startup.

After about 8 months of doing that, I realized I should be doing this for myself. I chatted with some friends who were in the content world, and I really didn’t know what to talk to them about or what to talk about with my content. What all of them said independently was, “You have a skill that people need, which is how to run advertising campaigns. Talk about that and teach people that.”

I committed to posting once a day, every day, for 30 days, an educational piece of content around branding, marketing, or growth marketing. After the first 30 days, I kept going, and I posted every single day for over a year, and I grew my following. Over that period of time, I started meeting with brands as an independent contractor, as a consultant, just trying to help them turn their marketing initiatives around.

What I found after a certain period of time was that I was just answering the same questions over and over and over again, and that people really were struggling specifically with Meta ads and how to run profitable Meta ad campaigns. What I did was I created a tool called Good Morning. It’s a SaaS that analyzes your Meta ad data, and then it gives you a to-do list of what to do. It doesn’t use generic AI. You could just drop your Meta ad data into Claude, and it’ll tell you what to do. The issue with that is that Claude finds answers to questions from the internet, which aren’t necessarily vetted. I’ve put my own logic into this AI that gives you a strict to-do list: pause this ad, iterate on this ad, scale this ad set or campaign. I’ve started to grow that product, called Good Morning, along with my following, because I’m answering a problem that they have.

Today I’m still making content. I don’t post every day, but I have a newsletter that is educational for people called Good Morning and also Neiman’s View. I have two, and then I have my startup, Good Morning, and that’s growing consistently every week. I grow my audience on Instagram, and I’m launching a YouTube.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The thing that’s been so striking to me about my path is that it’s not linear. The unfortunate part, I think, about careers for most people is that it’s a pursuit of what you don’t love, not a pursuit of what you do love. The few people who do get to pursue what they love are lucky.

I have had a very non-linear path, and it’s been hard because I don’t oftentimes know what the next step is or what the smartest move is. I’ve been feeling it out and just moving in the way that interests me and that feels the best. Because I’m doing it in a way that feels right to me, I’m not burnt out. I’m energized by it. I’m energized about this new YouTube channel that I’m going to launch. I’m energized every time I meet with a client. I love working on Good Morning, giving demos, selling it to people, and walking people through it, because I truly feel like it is a good product that can help people.

The biggest struggle has been navigating the unknown and trying to figure out whether what I’m doing is actually of value to people.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about GoodMorning | NeimansView?
I’m a creator. I create informational content on Instagram around brand marketing, culture, and Meta ads.

My audience: I met with so many people that needed help with Meta ads that I realized that running ads on Meta is just so painful for people. It’s difficult to know what to do, but a lot of people just need a little bit of guidance. What I know is that running ads on Meta actually isn’t that hard. There’s just so much information out in the world about how to do it, and then Meta gives you so much information about your campaigns that it can feel overwhelming because you don’t know what to look at or who to believe.

I created GoodMorning, which is designed to give you a good morning. It’s designed to just tell you how you did yesterday in your Meta account, and then it tells you exactly what you need to do. And what I’m most proud of is that I built this product completely by myself, using my own expertise as a growth marketer to help people run their Meta ads. The tool itself, objectively and quantifiably, has helped people. In the last 30 days, it has identified about 10% of the spend that’s being piped through GoodMorning from brands as a poor use of spend and spent inefficiently.

I’m really proud of that, and I’m also really proud of the growth that I’ve had on social media. I posted every single day for 365 days, and people can do that. It’s not easy. I’m proud that I was able to do that, but I’m lucky that that output resulted in a following. What do I want my readers to know? I want them to know that if you have a business and if you run ads on Meta or Google, it’s not that hard. It can feel overwhelming. We would be more than happy to have a conversation with anybody about it one-on-one. They can also sign up to use GoodMorning, which will help them out. Running ads on Meta is really not that hard.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I want to help people. That’s what success feels like. Nothing fills my cup more than getting a chance to sit down with somebody who’s been struggling with their advertising and their marketing efforts, and breaking it down for them in a way that makes it feel digestible and possible to grow. That feels like success to me. Also, I love getting new customers on GoodMorning.
