Today we’d like to introduce you to The Ceasars.

Hi The , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We’re Paolo “Ceasar” Catoni and Marco “PStarr” Pistella, aka The Ceasars, a music production duo originally from Italy and now based in Los Angeles. We’ve been friends since 2003 and started working together around 2009–2010. Marco originally started as an artist before transitioning into production and songwriting, while Paolo started producing music in his early teens.

We built our careers in Italy, working with some of the biggest artists in the country and earning several Gold and Platinum records along the way. From the beginning, though, our goal was to work with artists in the U.S. We had already started building relationships here, with our first placement coming in 2009 on a B.G. project, followed by records with Styles P and our own 2011 mixtape featuring artists such as B.G., Styles P, Kool G Rap and Smif-N-Wessun.

We first came to Los Angeles in 2015 and, after spending more than two months here, decided that moving to LA was the next step. We officially relocated in 2017. Since then, we’ve continued developing our work in music while also expanding into film and television. One of our early opportunities after moving was working on Capital Cities’ Solarize, contributing to three songs, including “Girl Friday” featuring Rick Ross. We had also previously composed the soundtrack for the Italian film Scialla!, which received significant recognition and award nominations.

Overall, it’s been a pretty organic progression: starting independently in Italy, building our name and relationships there, gradually establishing ourselves in the U.S., and eventually making the move to Los Angeles to pursue that side of our career full-time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest road. The process of moving to the U.S. was long and difficult – it took us almost two years to get our visas. Once we finally made the move, we had to adjust to a completely new country and a new life, while at the same time trying to establish ourselves in the music industry almost from scratch.

There were definitely moments when it was challenging, but looking back, it was absolutely worth it. The experience taught us a lot about persistence and patience. Especially as an artist, you have to keep going even when things don’t happen as quickly or easily as you’d hoped. If we had to make the same decision again, we would absolutely do it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a music production duo, but our work has always gone beyond just producing records. We specialize in music production, songwriting, and creating records that can work across different genres and settings. Over the years, we’ve also worked in film and television, including composing an entire movie soundtrack, so we’ve had the opportunity to approach music from several different perspectives.

What we’re most proud of is the fact that we’ve been able to build a career in two different markets. We established ourselves in Italy, then took the risk of starting over in the U.S. and building our network here. We’re proud of the records we’ve made and the artists we’ve worked with, but also of the longevity of the journey and the fact that we’ve continued to evolve.

We think what sets us apart is the combination of our different backgrounds and the fact that we work as a duo. We bring two perspectives to every record, but we’ve also developed a very strong chemistry over the years. We’re always trying to find the balance between making something that feels fresh and original while still making sure the music serves the artist and the project.

What were you like growing up?
We were both drawn to music from an early age, although we came at it from slightly different directions. Paolo was always interested in music, but also had a strong interest in art and graffiti and eventually went to art school. Marco was more focused on playing music and played guitar in different bands growing up.

In terms of personality, we were both creative and curious, and that naturally led us toward music and other forms of self-expression. Looking back, a lot of what we were interested in as kids, music, art, experimenting and creating things, ended up becoming a big part of what we do today.
