Today we’d like to introduce you to RAMONA SAWYER.

Hi RAMONA, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started acting at the ripe old age of 51. I had always dreamt of being an actor but my family convinced me to study something that would give me financial stability. However, the call to act never left. At the age of 51 I threw caution to the wind, loaded up my SUV, and drove from Columbus Ohio to LA to follow a lifelong dream of becoming an actor. I studied at PlayhousewestLa
and the rest is history!! I have booked 2 Commercials, a TV Pilot called Class N Session, and was on The Judge Karen show!!!I I have also booked an award winning short; WaterDawg, and currently a SAG feature film as a pot smoking granny in Autumn and Summer.. I also do theater and just wrapped two contrasting roles for the 14th annual Columbus Black Theater Festival. I have never let my age be a deterrent. When there is something on the inside of you that is calling, you have to listen! The most worthy goal’s won’t be easy but if you love it, you will get where you want to go. I love acting and my life is richer for it! Not in a materialistic way, but it brings me soo much joy stepping into another’s story Whatever it is your wanting to do,
you can do it and yes there will be challenges but you can’t give up,not if you want it!!!!! And don’t mind the nay sayers because it’s not their dream, it’s yours!! So go get it!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles was being away from my family and juggling my demanding career as an RN while auditioning, filming, and studying the craft.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I gravitate towards dramatic roles but I’m also known for my comedic abilities. I’m most proud of my ability to stick to something even if it’s difficult. My determination is bar none the best thing going. There are a lot of skills I learned as an RN that serve me well in this acting profession. Acting is not for the faint of heart.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being with little children makes me happy because they have untainted hearts.
