Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Irizarry.

Hi Corinne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born from Afro-Puerto Rican roots in New York City with a luggage set of problems. I knew rejection before I knew how to breathe. By six months I was walking and talking in Spanglish, by nine I was turning my life into a show tune. I had to.

Not only had I experienced homelessness and abuse but, I also lost both of my parents before I finished high school and was on my own by 17.

So, somewhere in my 20’s I followed my heart across the country to L.A. — just me, my intuition and my faith in God.

Today I’m an actress, comedian, writer, artist, fashion designer, creator of Great FFing Question. In my downtime, I’m an animal mom, a Coachella veteran, a gamer, ordained minister and a mystic.

There’s a book worth of stories I can tell and I’m ready to share them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth. In the book I’m writing, I trace it all — child abuse, domestic violence, SA, homelessness, ectopic pregnancies/miscarriages, financial ruin, and so much more. For 30 years I’ve been writing my story and I haven’t finished it because I’m still in it But, I’m finally ready to share it.
What’s changed is I’ve stopped trying to write a perfect story and started writing an honest one. Every time life decided
‘shit hits the fan’ — and it did, many times — I turned it into material, into faith, into a rescue dog, into a podcast episode.
So, No, not smooth. But I’d gladly do it all over again as it made me as strong and resilient as I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What do I do? I turn drama into art. That’s literally been my job since I was 9 years old turning my life into a show tune in my living room.
I’m an actress, comedian, writer, artist, fashion designer, and creator of Great FFing Question Podcast. I specialize in taking the uncomfortable, the unhinged, and the honest — the stuff most people whisper about — and saying it out loud with humor.

People know me for being unfiltered but not cruel. For being Afro-Puerto Rican and saying the quiet part out loud about identity, about being Black and Puerto Rican in spaces that don’t know what to do with both. For being the woman who will talk about perimenopause, ADHD, audHDHD, rejection sensitivity, faith in God, and puppy grief in the same episode and make it funny.
Great FFing Question was my idea. I created it because I needed a place where we could ask great FFing questions without being polished. We just hit over 70 episodes. It’s not just a show I co-host — it’s a world I built with amazing people.
I’m also an artist and fashion designer —
I’ve always designed my own looks because I never saw myself in someone else’s interpretation of who I wanted to be. My style is part of my art.
What am I most proud of?
Surviving life would be my most obvious accomplishment but, only second to how proud I am to be building a career on my own terms.
I drove 3,000 miles alone, across the country to Los Angeles in pursuit of my dreams. With no connections, no nepotism, no favors from anyone and somehow I’m still here, fighting to make my dreams come true.
To still be here while so many others have given up and abandoned their dreams due to the recessions, the pandemic, and all the other obstacles that come with choosing this path I’m on….
I haven’t and I won’t give up.
I’m still here and eventually they will have to let me in!

What sets me apart?
I’ve lived it. I’m a survivor.
This isn’t a persona.
I don’t do trauma for clout. I do comedy because I survived, I’m an actor because I can tap into my own life for inspiration and I believe every person has a story worth hearing including myself. That’s my art.

What’s next?
What I’m looking forward to is growing
Great FFing Question Podcast — I created it, it’s my world, and we’re just getting started. I want to take it live, on tour, to festivals, to places where people can ask great ffing questions in person. As a Coachella veteran for 20 + years, I know what a live audience feels like — I want that for GFQ.

Career-wise — more acting, more writing, more designing and the awards and accolades that come with a job well done. I’ve been designing my own world since I was 9, now I want to design it for other people too.

Personally — more rescue animals, more faith, more peace and lots more love.
I want to continue building a life in L.A. that feels like home, not just survival. A home with loved ones, dogs, maybe a little farm one day —

My future is about finishing what I started.
For 30 years I’ve been writing my memoir, Mi Vida Coco. It’s been a work in progress because I was living it. Now I’m finally finishing it. That’s my biggest plan — to close the loop on a 30-year book and put it out into the world. It’s not just my story, it’s for anyone who was on their own too young, who had a luggage set of problems from day one and turned it into something extraordinary.
Big changes? Yes. I’m done proving I can survive hard things. Now I want to prove I can build beautiful things and help others do the same.
