Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbi Dean.
Hi Bobbi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and growing up, I watched both of my parents work hard to build their own small businesses. Seeing their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit really inspired me and planted the idea that one day, I wanted to build something of my own.
During the pandemic, I decided to make a career pivot. I wanted to pursue something that allowed me to uplift people, build their confidence, and help them feel fabulous in their own skin. I was inspired by a close friend who was already working in the beauty industry, and I loved seeing how her clients would leave their appointments feeling confident and empowered.
Interestingly enough, when I was younger, I used to wax myself and even my family members just for fun. I never imagined that something I casually enjoyed would eventually become part of my career.
A few years later, I’m incredibly grateful to have turned that interest into a business where I can create a safe, welcoming space for people of all genders and backgrounds to enhance their natural beauty. For me, it’s not just about the service itself—it’s about how people feel when they leave my space. Being able to help someone feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin is what makes this career so rewarding to me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe every small business owner goes through seasons of challenges, and I’m no different. One of my biggest challenges has been finding my own voice and defining my style within such a competitive beauty industry. It can be easy to compare yourself to others, but I’ve learned that there is value in staying true to who you are and allowing your business to grow authentically.
Another challenge has been learning how to balance being a mompreneur, a wife, and a business owner. There are times when it feels like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day, and I’ve had to learn to give myself grace and understand that balance doesn’t always look perfect.
Ultimately, I’ve learned that challenges are part of the journey. You may have seasons where you have to slow down, pivot, or figure things out as you go, but as long as you keep moving forward, stay positive, and don’t give up, you eventually find your way. Those challenges have made me more resilient and have helped me grow not only as a business owner, but as a person.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Although I’m a small business owner, I consider myself an artist. I believe there’s an art to building something from the ground up. There’s an art to creating your own marketing campaigns, an art to removing body hair, and there’s certainly an art to performing facials—the rhythmic dance your hands do across someone’s face to create both balance and relaxation.
I specialize in full-body waxing for all people, as well as facials, spray tans, tooth gems, and a few other beauty services. But what I’m most proud of goes beyond the services I provide. It’s the example I’m setting for my son.
I want my son to grow up seeing his mom pursue her dreams and to feel proud of the woman who built something from the ground up. I hope that one day, watching my journey will inspire him to pursue his own dreams and believe that anything is possible when you’re willing to work for it.
I’m also incredibly proud of the community I’ve built. The people who sit in my chair aren’t just clients to me. Many of them have become friends, and I’m so grateful for the trust they’ve placed in me—not only with their self-care, but by allowing me to be a part of some of their most special moments throughout the years.
That, to me, is the most rewarding part of what I’ve created. I’m not just building a business; I’m building relationships, creating a space where people feel comfortable being themselves, and hopefully leaving each person feeling a little more confident than when they walked in.
What’s next?
I’m not exactly sure what the future holds for me, but I know it’s going to be amazing. I’m excited to continue growing—not only as a business owner, but as a woman and a mom. I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me, continuing to challenge myself, and creating new opportunities along the way.
I’ve learned that you don’t always have to have the entire path figured out. Sometimes, you just have to trust yourself, stay open to new possibilities, and keep moving forward. Whatever the future holds, I’m excited for it.
