Today we’d like to introduce you to Bahasi Nfr Ra.

Hi Bahasi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, music has been a part of my life. From cooking and dancing around the kitchen while listening to “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child with my mom and sister to hearing Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas” at my grandparents house every holiday season, music is a part of my earliest and most fond memories. With my parents’ unwavering support, I started doing musicals in middle school and writing original music. That led me to teaching myself how to play the piano so I could also finally have music to go with the lyrics I endlessly scribbled down. Today, I’m still learning new skills and on a journey to be the best artist I can be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a winding road, but I honestly feel like my biggest obstacle has been myself. I’ve lived with anxiety and depression for a while and with that has come comparison to others and second guessing myself and my talents. The constant support I’ve received and my passion for music and performance has always forced me to push through because I don’t want to live a life where I’m not pursing what makes me happiest.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist. I write and model but my home is singing and song-writing. I’ve been writing music since I was around 12 years old. I’m most proud of my new song and video coming out later this year, “Letter to Me”. It’s a vulnerable piece that I’ve been working on for a while now and I can’t wait to share it with the world! It was a project that my family helped with. From the creative direction all the way down to moving props around for action shots, I couldn’t have done it without them. Something I especially appreciate, that I also feel sets me apart, is my stylist — my wonderful mother and owner of Nfr Ra Denim Collection. No matter what, when I have a performance or project, she’s always ready to send me a handmade, one-of-a-kind, piece that captures my essence and never fails to make me feel beautiful and confident.
