Apollo Davar on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Apollo Davar and have shared our conversation below.

Apollo , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I have been most proud of building is my promotion business and my music. I’ve essentially done a lot of the work myself from creating and promoting to building a brand. Ive also started to write a book called The power They couldn’t kill. It’s still in progress but Its going to basically be the story of the trauma in my life. To see where I have come and to be where I’m at now speaks volumes to what I have overcame. Building something out of essentially nothing is difficult you really have to have that belief and faith in yourself. This didn’t just come over night Ive had to work for it everyday.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Apollo Davar I’m a writer, rapper, speaker, and mental health professional. Everything I create, whether it’s through my music or my upcoming book The Power They Couldn’t Kill, comes from a place of divine purpose. I’m not chasing fame or money my mission is to awaken people to who they truly are and show them that even their deepest pain can be transformed into power.

My journey has been one of redemption and rebuilding. I’ve faced loss, doubt, and moments where I felt like the world was trying to silence my voice. But those same experiences became the foundation of my strength and the message I now carry that no matter what you’ve been through, you can rise again with greater purpose.

Through Davar Promotions, I’m working to build a platform that uplifts independent artists and visionaries who move with intention people who stand for truth, authenticity, and real impact. Everything I do, from my art to my organization, is about transformation. Because at the end of the day, no system, no struggle, and no darkness can destroy the light that God placed within us.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is pride, pain, and misunderstanding. Most relationships whether family, friends, or community don’t fall apart because love disappears, but because wounds go unhealed. When people stop communicating honestly, stop forgiving, and start protecting their pain more than their peace, distance forms. The ego builds walls where the heart used to build bridges.

What restores those bonds is truth, empathy, and grace. When we start listening to understand instead of listening to react, healing begins. It takes humility to admit when we’ve hurt someone and faith to believe that restoration is possible. Forgiveness is one of the most powerful forces on Earth, not just because it frees the other person, but because it frees you. Real connection is built when both people are willing to see each other’s humanity and love past the scars.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life came from feeling unseen and misunderstood. Growing up, I carried a lot of pain from not feeling believed in at home, in school, even in the environments that were supposed to protect me. I learned early what it felt like to be doubted, to be counted out, and to feel like you had to prove your worth to people who never really saw your heart. That kind of pain doesn’t just disappear it shapes you. For years, it made me angry, distant, and hard.

But healing came when I stopped trying to prove myself and started understanding myself. I realized that the same pain that tried to destroy me was the very thing God was using to build me. I had to confront my trauma, forgive those who hurt me, and most importantly, forgive myself. Writing my book The Power They Couldn’t Kill is becoming part of that process turning my wounds into wisdom. It’s how Im learning that pain is not the end of your story; it’s the beginning of your purpose.”

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One truth that’s always guided me is that everything we go through the pain, the struggle, the doubt has purpose. I don’t always say it out loud, but I live by it every day. I’ve learned that nothing in life is wasted when you give it back to God. Even the hardest seasons are part of shaping who you’re meant to become.

Another truth is that love is the highest form of power. Not the kind of love that’s soft or easy, but the kind that requires patience, honesty, and forgiveness. That’s the love that changes people. I don’t talk about it often because I’d rather embody it than preach it but at my core, I believe love and purpose are the two forces that can heal anything.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I don’t want people to talk about fame, success, or numbers I want them to talk about impact. I want them to say I reminded them of their own light when they couldn’t see it. That through my words, my music, and my spirit, I helped people remember that God never abandoned them even in their darkest hour.

I want the story they tell about me to be one of transformation a man who took pain and turned it into purpose. A man who didn’t let the world harden him, but chose to heal and help others heal too. If people can look at my life and say, ‘He showed us what faith looks like when everything’s on fire,’ then I’ll know I fulfilled my purpose. I don’t want to be remembered for how loud I spoke I want to be remembered for those I transformed.
