We recently had the chance to connect with Varun Verma and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Varun , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As the day kicks in at 6 a.m., my body clock naturally wakes me up. By then, my wife is already getting ready to leave for work. The first greeting I get is from Croissant, the star of the Croissant Squad YouTube channel — my dog. I give him some pets, take him out for a restroom break, and then we hit a 1.5-mile run together to jumpstart my brain and let the creativity flow for the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Varun Verma, and I am a producer and YouTuber by profession. My journey began over 10 years ago when I enrolled in a master’s program at university. Since then, I’ve witnessed the industry evolve — from traditional Hollywood methods to the rise of AI and the digital age.
Today, I follow my passion alongside my handsome dog through our YouTube channel, Croissant Squad, while also producing movies and branded content. Very soon, I’ll be releasing a mind-blowing, entertaining film that I had the privilege to co-produce. I can’t share too much just yet… but you’ll know soon. Shhh.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I believe that setting outstanding goals and breaking through barriers to achieve them is the most powerful feeling. I’ve never taken “no” for an answer, and for me, a Plan B doesn’t exist. When I set a goal, I commit fully — risking it all and showing up with consistency until it happens. In the end, the results speak for themselves.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think it’s very important to suffer to discover your potential which you never thought about it. Suffering taught me patience, resilience, and perspective in a way success never could. When everything is going well, it’s easy to move forward without questioning much. But in moments of struggle, I’ve been forced to slow down, adapt, and discover strength I didn’t know I had. Suffering taught me gratitude — to appreciate small wins, to value the people who stand by me, and to understand that growth doesn’t come from comfort. Success may celebrate the outcome, but suffering shaped the person I had to become to reach that outcome.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Biggest lies industry tells is work hard and you’ll make it. At the end, it’s mix of luck and being smart about it. Read the room, understand the politics. And what can you contribute to table is important. Everyone is talented and hardworking as well. But they do not share same luck and communication skills.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Not listening to my best friend and not investing in bitcoins 7 years ago haha
