An Inspired Chat with Sami Siteman

Sami Siteman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Sami, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been watching a lot of baking shows and have been getting really inspired to bake cool things! I have always been a terrible baker because I don’t enjoy following recipes at all – LOL! – but watching these baking shows has inspired me to get more creative with baking and so I’ve been baking more lately and have been having lots of fun!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi!! I’m Sami Siteman and I’m a singer/songwriter based in Santa Barbara, CA! I always say that I write my music to express and process my own feelings and experiences, but I record and share it so that others can relate to it and heal through it the same way that my favorite artists have done for me. My music, influenced by so many artists whose music extends beyond the bounds of a single genre, is a real mix of genres itself, including pop, country, singer/songwriter, folk, jazz, and rock. Thus far I’ve released 28 tracks (including 3 EPs) in my 8 years of releasing music and am currently working on my debut album (planned for a mid-September 2026 release)! I’ve been fortunate enough that the music I’ve released so far has been streamed more than 775K+ times across platforms by listeners from 150+ countries, but what matters to me far more than just streaming numbers is the individuals behind those numbers who I’m able to connect with, and hopefully help, through my music. I believe that fans of Sara Bareilles, Carly Pearce, Noah Kahan, Kelsea Ballerini, and Olivia Rodrigo will find a home in my storytelling and songwriting.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I have always been an incredibly sensitive person, both emotionally and physically. I think as a child, I got a lot of signals from the world that my sensitivity was a negative trait, but I see it so differently now – my sensitivity is my superpower! It allows me to empathize with people so deeply, to be so passionate about so many causes, to feel my own feelings on a wider spectrum than many people do. Feeling the low end of that spectrum so deeply can be really painful, but I also know that I only get to feel the highest of highs on the spectrum that I do relative to all the lowest of lows too. So I truly am grateful not only for the empathy that my sensitivity has given me, but also for the perspective it’s provided me as well.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
As a child, and even still to this day, music has gotten me through SO much; it has gotten me through some of the scariest, most devastating, most heart-wrenching times of my life. Listening to other people’s music and feeling less alone. Writing my own music and processing my feelings in a way nothing else can substitute for. Music is such a beautiful healing mechanism and a community-builder, and I am so grateful to the many artists who have helped me through so many difficult times in my life with their music. I truly hope my music is able to do the same for others.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
1000000%. Authenticity is at the core of everything I do in both my personal and professional worlds. My music is truly my heart on a platter, and I try to use every opportunity I get, be it on social media, in interviews, through my music itself, to show who I truly am and to connect with others. As is everyone, I am a multi-faceted human with many sides – I am heartfelt, silly, intentional, passionate, caring, curious; not every side of me is shown in every circumstance, but I am most definitely always the real me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope when I’m gone that people describe me as kind. I hope that every person I encounter feels loved and cared for. Music is one of many modalities I try to do this through, but I truly just hope, in any aspect of my life, through any modality, that I bring people comfort and joy and hope. I hope to be able to help heal people in a way that helps them keep going when they weren’t sure if they could. I am an eternal optimist, and despite feeling the pain of the world extremely deeply, I also still always believe there is hope for better times. I hope that when I’m gone, the people I love will carry on my optimism and believe the world can be better than it is now.
