Hi Michelle, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Before I do anything with my day, I always start by meditating, praying, writing down 3 things I’m grateful for, and going for a walk around my block. I find that I do this for my own good mental health
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Michelle Majors, a singer/songwriter and recording artist living in Los Angeles. I’m originally from Philadelphia. I like to say that I’m an old fashioned lover girl on the journey of self love, and my music navigates through that journey of heart break and love while realizing I need to love myself more, and finding myself again. Im currently in the midst of finalizing my project to release to the world, for now I have a few singles out on all streaming platforms.
I think it’s important to stay super vulnerable so people can see I’m human and not perfect, that way they can relate to my experiences in my music.
I am for the ones who love timeless music. I am for the ones who love love and are turning childhood trauma and pain into power. I am for the girls who WANT to be in their soft girl season & find love but have to hustle to be independent and survive. I am to help people go from pain to progress
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My 6th grade music teacher Mrs Bacak. She gave me the role of “Annie” in our school musical “Annie” at the age of 10 Because she truly saw the talent in me before I could see it in myself. Then getting up on that stage, I finally saw it
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It’s important to fail and fail fast. The pain that comes with it is hard, but the faster you fail, the faster you succeed. You learn from the past and you apply it to what you’re trying to accomplish, and it brings you closer to your goals
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My team. I spend a lot of time talking to my executive producer and artist development coaches Dilemma and Dyshon. They offer a lot of insight and wisdom about the industry and how to become great and succeed.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
By the ocean . When I’m just submerged in nature or by the mountains. There’s something very grounding and calming about being in nature. Makes you feel very grateful
