Hi Kinna, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my daughters and try to sneak in mini vacations with them whenever possible. One daughter is in college, so I don’t get to see her very often, but the time we do get is even more special. My other daughter plays beach volleyball, and I love traveling with her and watching her compete. It’s such a great sport with amazing athletes, coaches and parents you get to know along the way.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I was born and raised in Sweden. I always knew I had a passion for decorating and organizing. I came to Los Angeles in my early 20’s where I studied film at UCLA, I also took classes in architecture and interior design. I started working as a set dresser, and also as a prop stylist for Bon Appetit Magazine. I loved the creativity and challenges of working on different projects all the time, but after becoming a mom I realized home staging would accommodate my schedule better, and it still give me the creative outlet I craved.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Dishonesty and miscommunication will sometimes break the strongest of bonds between people. Misunderstandings can do the same. In order to restore the bond that was broken, I believe we need to be completely open and vulnerable and try to communicate without blaming. We never know what another person is going through, so try to give them the benefit of doubt. If your effort to restore that bond isn’t successful, at least you gave it a try and hopefully grew in the process.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t worry so much about other’s opinions about you. They might mean well, but only you know what you truly want and what you’re capable of. Listen to your own intuition and don’t try to fit into a mold.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family and friends are the foundation of everything, Relationships, whether they’re romantic, business or friendships are so important. As a Libra, I also put a strong emphasis on balance and justice.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop worrying about what people think of me and my choices. I would also try to let go of any regrets.
