Fabian Martin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Fabian, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
First 90 minutes of the day are spent reading the LA and New York Times over a nice cup of drip coffee.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an indie filmmaker. I just completed my eighth short film “Between Dog and Man” and am in the middle of the submission process. Recently though I’ve been working on a graphic novel based on a script I wrote with a good friend and fellow filmmaker Matt Hill.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Definitely my father. He is a immigrant from Mexico that literally came here with nothing but the clothes on his back. He taught me to work hard and to take initiative in life. In essence, if opportunities aren’t provided, create your own.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to not be afraid to fail. Namely, that failures are nothing more than learning experiences to build on.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My language.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I was a stand-up guy, honest, driven, and empathetic.
