We recently had the chance to connect with Dorothy McMahon and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dorothy, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
One of my greatest sources of joy is my training routine. I love training across a variety of sports, and most recently I completed a full triathlon training regimen. The process of learning, committing to the structure, and ultimately completing the race was incredibly rewarding.
Since then, I’ve continued to seek out new challenges—currently focusing on improving my tennis game while planning to incorporate triathlon training back into my routine. Having a consistent training regimen gives me focus, discipline, and balance both in and outside of work. It keeps me grounded, motivated, and fully engaged, and it’s truly one of the great joys of my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dorothy McMahon, and I am the founder of LLVG Wellness. Our company helps people discover the healthiest, most vitalized versions of themselves by focusing on mindset, movement, and nutrition. I work with clients both one-on-one and in groups, using a variety of approaches tailored to their needs. At LLVG Wellness, we take a holistic view of health—believing that true well-being comes from cultivating joy and balance across all areas of life. Our mission is to help clients create that full structure of health so they can thrive at their highest potential.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Wow, that’s a really intense question. I think before the world told me who I was, I was just fearless. I remember, for example, singing my heart out in front of hundreds of people—even though I probably sounded awful—without a second thought. Now, I know how to sing, and I feel shy about it. So that fearlessness is something I’m consciously working on bringing back into my life. It’s funny how the world can break you down, but ultimately, you get to choose whether you rebuild yourself—and I think rebuilding that fearless part of me makes it all the more meaningful.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I’d say what has held me back the most is fear of failure. Early on, before I was fully aware of it, that fear had a pretty tight grip on me. Now, I recognize it for what it is, and I make a conscious choice to move forward anyway—even when I’m scared I might fail. I can still feel the hesitation, but I actually find it exciting, because it means I’m pushing myself and growing.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I find authenticity the only true way to express and connect with clients and the world.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Building a program behind the scenes of my company that will help the environment.
