Hi Devin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
Absolutely, the one person I stand up for the most is myself. I have a lot of integrity, so I refuse to be treated poorly or taken advantage of, which has cost me a job or two. Over the course of my entertainment career, I’ve built a lot of great relationships. I’ve also lost a few along the way, because of nonsense like someone being nice to my face then talking s#!t behind my back or my refusal to manipulate a situation or budget so another Producer could take advantage of the crew and actors. Instead, I choose to surround myself with others who see my value and have the same integrity and work ethic as I do. It definitely makes my life and work so much more enjoyable.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hmmm….if you don’t mind, I think I’ll just share the bio my publicist wrote as she tells the story of me better than I do, but first I’d like to share that my 28 minute short film “Transient”, which I co-wrote, produced and starred in, has had a successful run in the festival circuit with 17 screenings, 5 wins and 2 Semi-Finalist awards. I also have a supporting role in the upcoming film “The Iron Door”, which in the final stages of post-production, directed by Garrett Patten and I have a supporting role in the feature film “Killing Mary Sue”, which is now available on Amazon Prime. Directed by James Sunshine and Produced by Larry Layfield and Jonathan Sachar.
Now a word from my publicist…

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my mom and dad shaped me the most. I was fortunate enough to have grown up with loving parents, who always supported my dreams and aspirations even when they didn’t understand them. My momma taught me to be kind, genuine and to always follow my heart. My dad taught me honor, integrity and respect for myself and others. To trust people until they prove they can’t be trusted then give them a second chance to earn your trust again. This is not to say that they were not tough on me growing up. It was their tough love that shaped me the most. Neither one of them put up with any bullshit and called me out when I need it.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yeah…. there have been plenty of times I’ve thought about giving up on Hollywood. I don’t think you’re normal if you haven’t somewhere along your journey. Us actors are sensitive creatures who allow ourselves to be vulnerable, which can sometimes seep into our daily lives. Our industry is tough, but over time you learn to dodge the punches and keep pushing forward. Plus, there’s no better feeling than being on set making movies.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Aliens are real. There’s no way we are the only ones in this wonderful universe.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’d have to say the current D&D campaign that I’m in. We’ve been going strong for the past 3 years and we still haven’t defeated these dreadful Mind Flayers. Maybe we will have success within the next 7-10 years as long as we continue to survive.
