An Inspired Chat with Dalal Bruchmann

We recently had the chance to connect with Dalal Bruchmann and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dalal, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. It’s what keeps intelligence and energy from turning destructive.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Dalal. I grew up in a tiny town in Austria, started piano and violin when I was four, and never really stopped. Music has always been my way of making sense of the world – it’s followed me everywhere, from Vienna to London, New York, and Los Angeles… or maybe I’ve been following it. I’m grateful to work with a wonderful music label and have released a few solo piano albums with them, and I also compose for film and TV with my friend Maesa Pullman.
The project closest to my heart right now is my new album, Things I Choose to Keep, coming out on November 7th, 2025. A few singles are already out. It’s incredibly personal—dedicated to my late mother, whom I love deeply. The album is about finding creativity in the middle of loss, about building something beautiful out of broken pieces, and allowing that process to carry you forward.
At its core, my music is an invitation into that space—of memory, emotion, and quiet reflection.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that shaped me most is with my mother. A mother’s love is unique because it isn’t earned-it’s given simply because you exist. That lays the groundwork for how you understand yourself in the world. My mother’s values, her uncompromising principles, and her relentless work ethic gave me structure and the sense that I couldn’t get lost. But more broadly, I believe we discover the ‘I’ in the ‘we.’ Every relationship shapes you – those grounded in trust, those rooted in service, and those that challenge you to sharpen your spine and clarify your convictions.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. For different reasons. I want to be useful in this life – that my work can actually be of service in some way. The moment it feels like it’s becoming self-centered or meaningless, I get restless and unhappy.
Another time was after my mom passed away. It was a period of many losses, and I was witness to a lot of suffering. That makes you feel utterly helpless and useless. I had to remind myself that I still exist – and that means I have to get up and be more responsible with this luxury of another tomorrow

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I hope so. The smaller the gap between who you are privately and who you are publicly, the less fragmented you become and the simpler life is. It feels more honest, there’s less confusion, and there’s also a real freedom in that – because you’re not performing, you’re just being.”

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Yes – hahah. Usually at the start of a big recording project, when I’m antsy and excited to finally dive in. That’s when I’m basically tap dancing into the studio. And then again at the end, when I finally see it all come together – though by then it’s more of a victory wiggle than a graceful dance.
