An Inspired Chat with Clash of Long Beach

We recently had the chance to connect with Clash and have shared our conversation below.

Clash, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is 28/24 hrs! I wake up around 2pm PST, and respond to emails/inquires. I will begin drinking my pre-workout and enjoy the feeling of butterflies in my tummy, as I will be allowed to listen to music outside of my own while I workout. Once the feeling of being free takes over my body and my soul feels light, I drink a copious amount of PBfit and prepare to leave the house. From here it’s helping whoever needs it the most, and anyone else that comes up along the way. These days I’m going to College on weekdays, and I work as a SLS overnight– which leaves me around 8 hours to touch others and make an impact. By 10am the next day I am whooped, and ready to indulge in a massive sound bath until it’s time to do it again. Real vigilante.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
You know, for a long time I was afraid to be honest. I would leave all of my nerdy, awkward, and obedient natures on the cutting room floor. Opting in to only share the parts I thought were exciting and “cool”. But THAT is what makes me, me. The duality within, that I can share with so many in this world. To show the modern leader that it isn’t where you came from, but where you’re going! As well as teaching my peers that when you reach for the stars, you truly can have anything you want.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Ah man! See this is a good one! So my childhood was wild to say the least and it would often find me with hoodlums on the weekends and honor students Monday through Friday. For years I would try to infuse the two, and appeal to the more broad- average American. But that’s dead now. Not the streets I slept on, the businesses I’ve started, or the city I’ve worked with for so long define me. The people are here for their own reasons, and I must remember mine above all else. Change.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me many lessons, but none greater than the power of one. When something terrible is happening, it only takes one person to make a difference. My grandfather was raised on a plantation, and my grandmother can recall her first day going to integrated schools. Their individual choices created a ripple that can be felt, are you not reading their resilience? So I understand that the choices we make when no one is around can greatly effect this world and the people we love. It takes one thought, one day, one moment to turn it all around.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I keep alive at all costs, is bringing purpose to the people! I often find myself pondering the world’s issues with Philosophers con PHD and the hearty & houseless. One thing I can understand is purpose. That it isn’t money, fame or shiney trinkets that get the people going. It’s the fact that they feel like they belong! Like their job couldn’t get done without them there, even if they know it isn’t true. My tribe. My people. Just want to do what they do best, with like-minded individuals to the best of their ability. They would make a thousand tamales, even if they only normally sell ten. Hell. Today might be a good day. They show up on their off days, because a day not moving is a day closer to death. They take life by the _____ and find purpose in all they do.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Sheeeeeeesh! Another banga, like I say calm down. I would say that today I am actively working on the ways I can be of benefit to the women of tomorrow. I may think I’m good at serving the women of yesterday/today, but I don’t think the average women is allowed to be as prolific as they are. I want many daughters, and I would love to be that old burly man that you can talk to about anything! I’m in my 20s now, so outside of educating the youth I don’t really get to practice this skill. I assume 7-10 years from now I will look back and be happy at the man I’ve become.
