An Inspired Chat with Angela Su

Angela Su shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Angela, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I believe that joy is our true nature, and true fulfillment is being able to return to it. While there are moments where I experience glimpses of it, it can be easy to get caught back in what seem to be predicaments of day-to-day life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I create paintings in the style of abstract expressionism. Others have described my work to be what is often called “light code art”. Sometimes the soul wants to speak in ways that human language cannot express or even logically explain. My works represent letting go of self-consciousness, coming back into the essence of creation, and realizing how beautiful that is.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories from childhood was having the awareness that I was more than just this physical vessel. While I might not have understood it from a logical perspective, it was just a sense— a natural knowing which did not need to be questioned.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I feel that suffering shows us when to surrender to the natural flow of life, especially when we want to control everything. We may believe we know what’s best for us, yet there are often greater opportunities waiting for us that we cannot see just yet.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Remembering to have “certainty beyond logic”— to know and have certainty that everything that happens is for the good.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I feel that we should be in that energy in life in general. As for in relation to our careers, I believe that if we are not excited about what we are doing— no matter what it is— then that’s a sign that we’re out of alignment with what our soul wants, and perhaps there are other paths that resonate more with our authentic selves.
